Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Not dated but circa 1885. Complete in two volumes. Two miniature books - the Book of Common Prayer and Hymns Ancient and Modern - uniformly bound in full leather, decorated with blind embossing, gilt lettering on spines, all edges gilt, and presented together in a leather covered double slotted slipcase. 48mo (the Book of Common Prayer is Diamond 48mo). Covers are just a little rubbed on corners and spine ends and on backstrips; the backstrip of 'Hymns' is a tad sunned and has a cracked front hinge. Previous owner's name, dated 1890, inked on both front free endpapers, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. The slipcase is rubbed at edges and folds, scuffed on extremities and generally worn but still sound, with the patina of age and use. Lovely little set, suitable for pocket or handbag.

Black/Dark Green full leather covers, worn edges and surfaces with gilt title to spine, gilt decorative edging now partially rubbed. A good application of dark green and black polish would enhance and preserve the book making it a delight to place in a bookcase. 647 numbered pages followed by 164 pages of psalms all gilt edged, now wearing a little thin. Main text is in large font size making it suitable for reading from a lectern. A feature of the book is the four page ribbons held at the top by a bone or ivory toggle. Page binding tight. Size 14.3 x 22.7 cm.
