PSALM XXXIV.

This Pfalm was compofed by David, when, by counterfeiting madness, he had efcaped from Abimeleck, who, be feared, had formed defigns against him. He pioufly afcribes his deliverance to God, and recommends the keeping of his commandments, and the endeavour to obtain his favour, who never fails to deliver those who fincerely truft in him. From the 3d, 9th, and 11th verses, it seems probable that it was addressed to his affociates and friends, who had now reforted to him in great numbers, 1 Sam. 23.

1. I WILL always give thanks unto the Lord; his praise fhall ever be in my mouth.

2. My foul fhall make its boast in the Lord, the humble fhall hear, and be glad.

3. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.

4. I fought the Lord and he heard me; yea he delivered me out of all my fear.
