2 CHRON. XV.

17 But the high Places were not taken away out of Ifrael: nevertheless, the Heart of Afa was perfect all his Days.

18 And he brought into the House of GOD the Things that his Father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, Silver, and Gold, and Veffels.

19 And there was no more War unto the five and thirtieth Year of the Reign of Afa.

2 CHRON. XIV.

8 And Afa had an Army of Men that bare Targets, and Spears, out of Judah three hundred thoufand, and out of Benjamin, that bare Shields and drew Bows, two hundred and fourfcore thousand: all these were mighty Men of Valour.

9 And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian, with an Hoft of a thoufand thoufand, and three hundred Chariots, and came unto Marefhah..

10 Then Afa went out against him, and they fet the Battle in Array in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

II "And Afa CRIED unto the LORD his GOD, and faid, LORD, it is NOTHING with thee to HELP, whether with many, or with them that have NO POWER: HELP US, O LORD our God, for we REST on thee, and in thy NAME we go against this multitude: O LORD, thou art our GoD, let not MAN PREVAIL against THEE.

12 So the LORD fmote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah, and the Ethiopians fled.

13 And Afa and the People that were with him pursued them unto Gerar, and the Ethiopians were overthrown, that they could not recover themselves, for they were destroyed before the LORD, and before his Hoft; and they carried away very much Spoil.

14 And they fmote all the Cities round about Gerar, for the Fear of the LORD came upon them: and they fpoiled all the Cities, for there was exceeding much Spoil in them.

16 And there was War between Afa and Baasha King of Ifrael all their Days.

17 And Baafha King of Ifrael went up against Judah, and built Ramah, that he might not suffer any to go out or come in to Afa King of Judah.

18 Then Afa took all the Silver and the Gold that were left in the Treafures of the Houfe of the LORD, and the Treasures of the King's Houfe, and delivered them into the Hand of his Servants: and King Afa fent them to Ben-hadad King of Syria, that dwelt at Damafcus, faying,

19 There is a League between me and thee, and between my Father and thy Father: behold, I have fent unto thee a Prefent of Silver and Gold; come and break thy League with Baasha King of Ifrael, that he may depart from me.

20 So Ben-hadad hearkned unto King Afa, and fent thé Captains of the Hofts which he had against the Cities of Ifrael, and fmote Ijon, and Dan, and Abel-beth-maachah, and all Cinneroth, with all the Land of Naphtali.

21 And it came to pafs, when Baasha heard thereof, that he left off building of Ramah, and dwelt in Tirzah.

2 CHRON. XVI.

And Hanani the Seer came to Afa King of Judah, and faid unto him, Because thou haft RELIED on the King of Syria, and not RELIED on the LORD thy GOD, therefore is the Hoft of the King of Syria escaped out of thine

Hand.

8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge Hoft, with very many Chariots and Horfemen? yet because thou didft RELY on the LORD, he delivered them into thine Hand.

Pfal. xxxi. 1 In thee, O LORD, afhamed: deliver me in thy Rightedo I put my TRUST, let me never be oufnefs.

10 Then Afa was wroth with the Seer, and put him in a Prifon-houfe; for he was in a Rage with him, because of this Thing. And Afa oppreffed fome of the People the fame time.

12 And Afa in the thirty and ninth Year of his Reign, was difeafed in his Feet, until his Difeafe was exceeding great yet in his Difcafe he fought not to the LORD, but to the Phyficians.

13 And Afa flept with his Fathers, and died in the one and fortieth Year of his Reign.

14 And they buried him in his own Sepulchres which he had made for himself in the City of David, and laid him in the Bed, which was filled with fweet Odours and divers kinds of Spices prepared by the Apothecaries Art: and they made a very great Burning for him.

TH

Ver. 1 THEN the Word of the LORD came to Jehu the Son of Hanani, against Baafha, faying,

2 Forafmuch as I exalted thee out of the Duft, and made thee Prince over my People Ifrael, and thou haft walked in the Way of Jeroboam, and haft made my People Ifrael to fin, to provoke me to Anger with their Sins:

3 Behold, I will take away the Pofterity of Baafha, and

the

the Pofterity of his House: and will make thy House like the Houfe of Jeroboam the Son of Nebat.

4 Him that dieth of Baafha in the City fhall the Dogs eat and him that dieth of his in the Fields, fhall the Fowls of the Air eat.

5 Now the rest of the Acts of Baafha, and what he did, and his Might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Ifrael?.

6 So Baafha flept with his Fathers, and was buried in Tirzah, and Elah his Son reigned in his ftead.

7 And alfo by the Hand of the Prophet Jehu the Son of Hanani, came the Word of the LORD againft Baafha, and against his Houfe, even for all the Evil that he did in the fight of the LORD, in provoking him to Anger with the Work of his Hands, in being like the Houfe of Jeroboam, and because he killed him.

8 In the twenty and fixth Year of Afa King of Judah, began Elah the Son of Baafha to reign over Ifrael in Tirzah, two Years.

9 And his Servant Zimri, (Captain of half his Chariots) confpired against him as he was in Tirzah, drinking himfelf drunk in the Houfe of Arza Steward of his Houfe in Tirzah.

10 And Zimri went in and fmote him, and killed him, in the twenty and feventh Year of Afa King of Judah, and reigned in his ftead.

II And it came to pafs when he began to reign, as foon as he fat on his Throne, that he flew all the Houfe of Baafha: he left him not one that piffeth against a Wall, neither of his Kinsfolks, nor of his Friends.

12 Thus did Zimri deftroy all the Houfe of Baafha, according to the Word of the LORD, which he fpake against Baafha by Jehu the Prophet;

13 For all the Sins of Baafha, and the Sins of Elah his Son, by which they finned, and by which they made Ifrael to fin, in provoking the LORD GOD of Ifrael to Anger with their Vanities.

14 Now the reft of the Acts of Elah, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Ifrael?

15 In the twenty and feventh Year of Afa King of Judah, did Zimri reign feven Days in Tirzah: and the People

were

were encamped against Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines.

16 And the People that were encamped heard fay, Zimri hath confpired, and hath also flain the King: wherefore all Ifrael made Omri the Captain of the Hoft, King over Ifrael that Day in the Camp.

17 And Omri went up from Gibbethon, and all Ifrael with him, and they befieged Tirzah.

18 And it came to pafs, when Zimri faw that the City was taken, that he went into the Palace of the King's Houfe, and burnt the King's House over him with Fire, and died; 19 For his Sins which he finned in doing Evil in the fight of the LORD, in walking in the Way of Jeroboam, and in his Sin which he did, to make Ifrael fin.

20 Now the reft of the Acts of Zimri, and his Treafon that he wrought, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Ifrael?

21 Then were the People of Ifrael divided into two Parts: half of the People followed Tibni the Son of Ginath, to make him King; and half followed Omri.

22 But the People that followed Omri, prevailed against the People that followed Tibni the Son of Ginath: fo Tibni died, and Omri reigned.

23 In the thirty and one Year of Afa King of Judah, began Omri to reign over Ifrael twelve Years: fix Years reigned he in Tirzah.

24 And he bought the Hill of Samaria of Shemer, for two Talents of Silver, and built on the Hill, and called the Name of the City which he built, after the Name of Shemer, Owner of the Hill, Samaria.

25 But Omri wrought Evil in the Eyes of the LORD, and did worse than all that were before him.

26 For he walked in all the Way of Jeroboam the Son of Nebat, and in his Sin wherewith he made Ifrael to fin, to provoke the LORD GOD of Ifrael to Anger with their Va

nities.

27 Now the reft of the Acts of Omri, which he did, and his Might that he fhewed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Ifrael?

28 So Omri flept with his Fathers, and was buried in Sa maria, and Ahab his Son reigned in his stead.

29 And in the thirty and eighth Year of Afa King of

Judah,
