of fuch Manors or Lordships belonging to the Crown as confift of Manerial Rights and Quit Rents, without any Lands or with very fmall Quantities of Land belonging to them; and where the greater Part of the Lands over which the Manerial Rights extend is the Property of Individuals, and of Manors or Lands of which His Majesty is not the fole Proprietor, but is entitled to an undivided Share jointly with Individuals, and of Lands difperfed in fmall Quantities, and intermixed with the Property of Individuals, and lying remote from other Property belonging to the Crown, and of Grounds or Buildings appertaining to or anciently held with any Caftle or ftrong Building now or lately ufed for a Common Gaol, or with any Building used for holding the Affizes or Seffions in any County or Diftrict, or for Court House or Gaoler's Houfe, or in which the Magiftrates of any County or District may claim to have Rights from Length of Ufe or Enjoyment for the publick Purpofes of fuch County or Diftrict, and of Tythes belonging to the Crown iffuing out of Lands which are the Property of Individuals, and of Mills, Fisheries, and Ferries, and Mooring Chains and Waites belonging to the Crown, the Poffeffion of which has been ufurped or encroached upon, for the best Prices or Confiderations in Money which the faid Surveyor General shall be able to procure for the fame, and the Purchase Money to be paid for the fame fhall from Time to Time be paid into the Bank of England to the Account of the Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treafury, in like Manner as the Monies arifing from the Sales of Land Revenue authorized by the faid recited Acts of the Thirtyeighth and Forty-fecond Years of His prefent Majesty are directed to be paid; and all Sales made under this Act of the Property herein-before defcribed, fhall be made in the fame Manner and Form, and under the like Rules, Regulations, and Provifions, and fhall be to all Intents and Purposes as valid and effectual as if the fame had been made under the faid recited Acts of the Thirty-eighth and Forty-fecond Years of His prefent Majefty, or either of them.

XII. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful for the faid Chancellor and Council of the faid Duchy, and the faid Surveyor General to order and direct that the Purchase Monies which fhall hereafter arife by Sales to be made of Property belonging to His Majefty, His Heirs and Succeffors, within the orStock applicable dering and Survey aforefaid, under the faid recited Acts of the Thirty-eighth and Forty-fecond Years of His prefent Majefty, or under this Act (excepting only as far as it relates to Enfranchisements of Copyholds and Sales of Manerial Rights refpectively), and which fhall be paid into the Bank of England under the Directions of any of the Three laft-mentioned Acts, shall be laid out in the Pur chafe either of Three Pounds per Centum Confolidated Bank Annuities, or Three Pounds per Centum Reduced Annuities, in the Names of the Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treasury, or in the Name of the Duchy of Lancafter, in like Manner in all Respects as is prefcribed in the faid recited Acts of the Thirty-eighth and Forty-fecond Years of His prefent Majefty, with relation to Purchases of Three Pounds per Centum Confolidated Bank Annuities under those recited Acts refpectively, and the Capital Stock purchased under the Provifions of this Act, whether Three per Centum Consolidated Bank Annuities, or Three per Centum Reduced Annuities, and the Intereft or Dividends arifing therefrom, fhall be fubject to be dif

pofed of and applied in the fame Manner, to the fame Purpofes, and under the fame Rules, Regulations, and Provifions, as are prefcribed in the faid recited Acts of the Thirty-eighth and Forty-fecond Years of His prefent Majefty, with refpect to Stock purchafed by Sales of any of the faid Land Revenues authorized by the faid laftmentioned Acts, and with refpect to the Dividends and yearly Intereft arifing therefrom.

XIII. And be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful for the faid Surveyor General for the Time being, to contract and agree with any Perfon or Perfons, or Body or Bodies Politick or Corporate, being Tenant or Tenants of any Copyhold or Cuftomary Tenements, Parcel of or holden of any Manor belonging to the Crown, within the Survey or Receipt of the Exchequer in England, for the Enfranchifement of any fuch Copyhold Tenements, or with any Perfon or Perfons (though not fuch Tenants of any fuch Copyhold Tenements) for the Sale of the Manerial Rights belonging to the Crown therein, at or for the best Prices or Confiderations in Money which the faid Surveyor General fhall or may be able to procure for the fame, and which shall be approved of by the Lord High Treasurer or Commiffioners of the Treafury for the Time being, and the Tenements fo agreed to be enfranchifed, or upon which the Manerial Rights fhall have been fo contracted for, and the Confi deration to be paid for the fame, fhall be fpecified in a Certificate to be granted for that Purpofe, and the Confideration Monies fo to be paid fhall be accepted, and Receipt given for the fame, and the faid Certificate and Receipt fhall be enrolled, and the Enrolment thereof fhall be attefted in the fame Form and Manner, and under the fame Rules, Regulations, and Provifions refpectively (except where it is otherwife provided by this Act) as are contained in the faid recited Act of the Thirty-fourth Year of His prefent Majefty, with relation to the Conveyance of Fee Farm Rents to the Purchasers thereof under that Act; and fuch Certificate and Receipt fhall also, in the Court Rolls of the Manor under which the Tenement to which the fame relates is holden, be enrolled by the Steward of fuch Manor or his lawful Deputy, who is hereby required forthwith to enrol fuch Certificate and Receipt upon the Production thereof to him, and having enrolled the faid Certificate and Receipt as aforefaid, fhall attest the fame under his Hand, and return the faid Certificate and Receipt to the Purchafer or Purchafers; and from and immediately after fuch Enrolments, and thenceforth for ever, the refpective Copyhold Tenements included in any fuch Certificate, relating to the En franchisement thereof, fhall be enfranchifed, and the Tenants thereof refpectively fhall hold the fame freed and discharged of and from all Claims and Demands which can or may be made by His Majesty, His Heirs or Succeffors, or by any Perfon or Perfons lawfully claiming by, from, or under them, as Lords of the Manor to which fuch Tenements before the Enfranchisement thereof belonged, and as fully and amply to all Intents and Purpofes as His Majefty, His Heirs or Succeffors, might or could have held or enjoyed the fame; and from and immediately after fuch Enrolments and thenceforth for ever, the respective Purchases of any Manerial Right mentioned in any fuch Certificate, relating to the Purchase thereof, and their Heirs and Affigns, fhall by force of this Act be adjudged, deemed, and taken to be in the actual Seifin and Poffeffion of the

Manerial Rights fo by them refpectively purchafed, and fhall hold and enjoy the fame peaceably and quietly, freed and discharged from all Claims and Demands of His Majefty, His Heirs and Succeffors, or any Perfon claiming under him or them, as fully and amply to all Intents and Purposes as His Majefty, His Heirs and Succeffors, might or could have held or enjoyed the fame if fuch Sale had not taken place.

XIV. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That no fuch Contract fhall be made unless by fpecial Warrant, to be iffued for that Purpose by the Lord High Treasurer or the Commissioners of the Treasury for the Time being, or any Three of them.

XV. And be it further enacted, That the Purchafe Money or Confideration to be paid for every fuch Enfranchisement or Purchafe of Manerial Rights, fhall from Time to Time be paid into the Bank of England, to the Account of the Lord High Treafurer of England, for the Enfranchisement of Copyholds of Crown Manors, and fhall be laid out in the Purchafe of Three Pounds per Centum Confolidated Bank Annuities, in the Name of the Lord High Treasurer, by order of the faid Surveyor General (who is for that Purpose hereby authorized to make Drafts on the Bank for the fame) in like Manner as is directed by the faid recited Act paffed in the Thirty-fourth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty intituled, An Act for the better Management of the Land Revenue of the Crown, and for the Sale of Fee Farm and other unimproveable Rents; but nevertheless in fuch Manner that the Accounts may be kept feparate and diftinct from the Accounts of the Sales made and Stock purchafed in pursuance of the faid A&.

XVI. And be it further enacted, That whenever the faid Surveyor General fhall have contracted with any Perfon or Perfons, Body or Bodies Politick or Corporate, for the Enfranchisement of Purchafers, &c. fuch Tenements or other Hereditaments, or Sale of the Manerial Rights therein, the faid Surveyor General fhall grant to the refpec tive Purchafer or Purchasers a Certificate under his Hand, fpeci fying the Premifes fo agreed to be enfranchifed or fold, and the Amount of the Purchase Money to be paid for the fame, and which is hereby required to be paid within Thirty Days from the Date of fuch Certificate, and the Cashiers of the Bank, or One of them, fhall, upon the Production of fuch Certificate, accept and receive the Purchafe Monies therein fpecified, and at the Foot or on the Back of fuch Certificate acknowledge the Receipt of the fame, without Fee or Reward; which Certificates and Receipts fhall be in the Form of Words following, or as near thereto as may be; (that is to fay) By the Surveyor General of His Majefty's Land Revenue: HESE are to certify, That the faid Surveyor General hath contracted and agreed on Behalf of the King's moft Excellent Majefty, with

Which Certificates and Receipts fhall not be charged or chargeable with any other Stamp Duty than fuch as is by Law required for the Receipts for the refpective Sums therein expreffed to be paid as the Confideration for fuch Enfranchisements, or for fuch Manerial Rights; and fuch Certificates and Receipts fhall be good, fufficient, valid and effectual in the Law for conveying and affuring the feveral Meffuages, Tenements, and Hereditaments therein refpectively to be comprized, enfranchifed, and difcharged, and the faid Manerial Rights therein fpecified, unto and to the Ufe of the feveral and refpective Perfons therein to be named, and their Heirs and Affigns for ever.

XVII. And be it further enacted, That all Rules, Regulations, Provifions of Provifions, Claufes, Matters, and Things contained in the faid recited Act of the Thirty-fourth Year of His prefent Majefty, and in force before the paffing of this Act, with refpect to the Sales of Fee Farm Rents, and the Certificates and Receipts relating thereto, authorized by that Act, fhall be in force and be applied as far as the fame are applicable, and are not altered by this Act with relation to the Enfranchifement of Copyholds, and Sales of Manerial Rights, and to the Certificates and Receipts concerning the fame, authorized by this Act.

XVIII. And whereas great Uncertainty prevails as to what

Stamp Duties ought by Law to be impofed upon Contracts for the Sale of Fee Farm Rents under an Act made in the Twenty-fixth Year of His prefent Majefty, intituled, An Ad for appointing Commiffioners to inquire into the State and Condition of the Woods, Forefts, and Land Revenues belonging to the Crown, and to fell cr alienate Fee Farm and other unimproveable Rents; and under another Act made in the Thirtieth Year of His prefent Majefty, intituled, • An AЯ to continue and amend an A&t made in the Twenty-fixth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled, An Act for appointing Commiffioners to inquire into the State and Condition of the Woods, Forefts, and Land Revenues belonging to the Crown, and to fell or alienate Fee Farm and other unimproveable Rents, and under the faid recited Act of the Thirty-fourth Year aforefaid, and alfo upon Leafes granted by the Crown under the faid recited Act of the Thirty-fourth Year aforefaid, to the great Grievance and Hardship of Purchasers of fuch Fee Farm Rents and Leffees of the Crown refpectively;' Be it enacted, That no Contracts made under any of the faid recited Acts of the Twenty-fixth, Thirtieth, or Thirty-fourth Years of His prefent Majefty, for the Sale of Fee Farm Rents, nor any Leafes made under the Great Seal or Seal of the Exchequer, of any Lands or other Hereditaments belonging to the Crown, within the ordering and Survey of the Exchequer, fince the faid recited A&t of the Thirty-fourth Year aforefaid, fhall be null and void on account of the fame refpectively not being duly ftamped, or the Stamp Duty not having been duly paid thereon refpectively, and that no Contract which fhall be hereafter made for the Enfranchisement of any Copyhold, or for the Sale of any Manerial Rights under this Act, or the Sale of any Fee Farm Rents or other Hereditaments belonging to the Crown, within the ordering and Survey of the Exchequer aforefaid, nor any Leafe or Grant which fhall be made pursuant to the Regulations of this Act or of the said Act of the Thirty-fourth Year of His Majefty's Reign, which shall be hereafter made of any Lands or other Hereditaments belonging to the Crown, within the ordering and Survey laft aforefaid, fhall be fubje&t to any Stamp Duty whatever.

XIX. And whereas by the faid recited A&t of the Thirtyfourth Year of His prefent Majesty, it is amongst other Things • enacted, That it shall not be lawful to renew any Grant or Leafe of any Tenements or Hereditaments authorized by the faid Act to be granted for any Term not exceeding Ninety-nine Years, until within Twenty Years of the Period of the Expiration of the fame, except in certain Cafes therein fpecified: And whereas it is expedient that a Power of Renewal fhould be allowed in other Cafes not specified Where Houfes of in the faid Exception;' Be it therefore enacted, That where any Houfe or other Building fhall require or fhall be intended and agreed to be rebuilt, or any new Houfe or other Building to be erected upon any Land or Ground belonging to the Crown, within the ordering and Survey aforefaid, held under a Leafe from the Crown, upon which other Houfes or Buildings included in the fame Leafe are ftanding, if the Leffee or Grantee fhall covenant and agree to build a new Houfe or Building, or to rebuild a Houfe or Building of fuch Value as to increase the Value of the whole Property included in fuch Leafe, it fhall be lawful at any Time or Times hereafter to grant any further or other Leafe of all fuch Land or Ground, with
