2. Lift up thyfelf, thou Judge of the earth, render a reward to the proud.

3. Lord, how long fhall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

4. They utter and fpeak hard things, all the workers of iniquity boast themselves.

5. They break in pieces thy people, and afflict thine heritage.

6. They murder the widow and the stranger, and put the fatherless to death :

7. And fay, the Lord fhall not fee; neither shall the God of Jacob regard.

8. Take heed, ye fimple among the people; O ye fools when will ye understand?

9. He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, fhall he not fee?

11. The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are but vain.

14. For the Lord will not caft off his people, and his inheritance he will not forfake.

15. Until justice fhall return to judgment, and in her train all the upright of heart.

16. Who will rise up for me against the evil doers? who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17. Unless the Lord had been my help, my foul had quickly dwelt in filence.

18. When I said, my foot flippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, held me up.

19. In the multitude of my anxious thoughts within me, thy confolations refresh my foul.

20. Shall the tribunal of iniquity have fellowfhip with thee, which frameth mischief like a law? 21. They gather themselves together against the foul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

22. But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

Morning Prayer.

PSALM XCV,

An exhortation to praise God as Creator of the world, and peculiar guardian of the Jewish people.

1. O COME let us fing unto the Lord, let us heartily rejoice in the ftrength of our falvation.

2. Let us come before his prefence with thankfgiving, and fhew ourselves glad in him with psalms. 3. For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all Gods.

4. In his hand are all the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are his also.

5. The fea is his, and he made it, and his hands prepared the dry land.

6. O come let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our maker.

7. For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand; furely you will hearken to his voice;

8. "Harden not your heart as in the day of pro

vocation, as in the day of temptation in the wildernefs.

9. Truly your fathers tempted me, they proved me although they faw my works.

10. Forty years long was I grieved with that generation, and faid, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: 11. So I fware in my wrath, that they fhould not enter into my reft."

PSALM XCVI.

This is part of a longer Pfalm, which David compofed when the ark was removed from Obededom to mount Sion. In this portion, which extends from the 23d to the 34th verfe, I Chron. xvi, fome things are altered and adapted to the ceremony for which it was defigned: For as Dathius obferves, the tradition that this Pfalm was used in the dedication of the temple after the captivity, is not to be difregarded.

1. O SING unto the Lord a new fong; fing unto the Lord all the earth.

2. Sing unto the Lord, blefs his name; fhew forth his falvation from day to day.

3. Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all people.

4. For the Lord is great, and greatly to be praifed; he is to be feared above all gods.

5. For all the gods of the nations are idols; but the Lord made the heavens.

6. Honour and majefty are before him; might and glory are in his fanctuary.

7. Give unto the Lord, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and might.

8. Give unto the Lord the glory of his name, bring an oblation and enter into his courts.

9. O worship the Lord with holy reverence; tremblé before him all the earth.
