SENATE CHAMBER, TOPEKA, KANSAS,

January, 10th, 1865. It being the day fixed by the Constitution of the State of Kansas for the assembling of the Legislature.

The Senate convened at 12 o'clock M., and was called to order by his Honor, James McGrew, Lieutenant Governor of the State, and ex officio President of the Senate.

On motion of Mr. F. W. Potter, member elect from the 18th district.

A. Danford, member elect froin the 14th district, was elected temporary Secretary.

Mr. Legate moved that the oath be administered to Nathan Price, from the 1st district.

Mr. Potter moved to lay the motion on the table. Carried,

The following Senators presented their credentials and took and subscribed the following oath, which was administered by C. K. Gilchrist, Judge of the 30. Judicial District of the State of Kansas :
