C Beecher... FIRST DAY. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES, Helena, Montana, January 2, 1893. In pursuance of law, the House of Representatives of the Third Legislative Assembly of the State of Montana was duly called to order by A. B. Cook, Auditor of said State, and having appointed D. J. Tallant as temporary Clerk, thereupon he proceeded to read the names of the members-elect, to whom the oath of office was administered by the Hon. W. H. Hunt, Judge of the First Judicial District of said State, the members having presented their certificates of election before being sworn, as follows: J. E. Fleming, F. K. Wilson, A. O. Rose, D, J. Tallant, George C. Fitschen, Mr. A. B. Hamilton of Choteau County presented what purported to be his certificate of election and oath of office, and asked that his name be placed upon the roll of members, which the Auditor refused. Election of Speaker pro tem.: The motion of Monteath to proceed to the election of a Speaker having been amended, on motion of Scharnikow, to proceed to the election of a temporary Speaker, the motion as amended having been adopted, Mr. Matthews was thereupon nominated by Bray of Silver Bow County for temporary Speaker, and duly elected by the following vote: |
