the monies arifing by the hereditary duties of excife, and by other du ties of excife therein mentioned, payable during her Majesty's life, and from and after her Majesty's decease, then the like full, clear, and intire weekly fum of three thousand feven hundred pounds, out of all C the monies to arife by the said hereditary duties of excise, from time to time for ever, fhall be brought and paid into the receipt of Exchequer every week, in the manner and form, and under fuch penalties, as are thereby prefcribed: and it is thereby further enacted, That out of the money of the faid hereditary duties of excife, arifing in or by fuch weekly payments at the Exchequer, as aforefaid, certain annual fums after the rate of three pounds per centum per annum, therein mentioned, fhall be fatisfied and paid, and that out of the monies of the faid feveral branches of excife, arifing in or by the faid weekly payments, the feveral annuities to be purchased in pursuance of the faid act of the fecond year of your Majesty's reign, fhould also be paid and fatisfied; and that all the reft and refidue of the monies arifing by the faid weekly payments, and which at the end of every year, reckoning By 6 Geo. 1. the first year to begin from the faid five and twentieth day of Decem- c. 4. the Southber, in the year of our Lord one thousand feven hundred and five, Sea company fhould remain, after fatisfying or reserving sufficient to fatisfy all the take in thefe payments which should be then incurred or grown due, as well for and annuities. upon the faid annual fums, after the rate of three pounds per centum per annum, as alfo for and upon all the faid annuities, to be purchased upon the act laft mentioned, should be applied and difpofed of to and for the publick ufe and fervice, and not otherwife: and whereas the faid annual fums, after the rate of three pounds per centum per annum, do amount in the whole to the yearly fum of thirty nine thousand eight hundred fifty five pounds, fixteen fhillings, and one half penny; and the annuities purchased on the faid act of the fecond year of your Majefty's reign, for the faid term of ninety nine years, do amount in the whole to fixty feven thousand nine hundred twenty four pounds, ten fhillings, and fix pence half penny; and the annuities purchased feverally on the fame act for fingle lives, do amount in the whole to twenty two thousand three hundred and thirteen pounds, fix fhillings, and eight pence; and the annuities feverally purchased on the fame act for the lives of two perfons, and the furvivor of them, do amount in the whole to ten thoufand five hundred and twenty eight pounds; and the Several annuities purchased on the fame act for the lives of three perfons, and the furvivors and furvivor of them, do amount in the whole to three thoufand nine hundred seventy nine pounds, thirteen shillings, and four pence; and the charges of paying the faid annuities do amount to the yearly fum of twelve hundred pounds; jo that there doth remain at this time undifpofed, of the money of the faid weekly payments, to be applied to the publick use and service, the yearly fum of forty fix thousand five hundred ninety eight pounds, thirteen fillings, and five pence, or thereabouts, befides the expectancies after the determination of the faid refpective eftates, for one, two, and three lives: Now we your Majefty's moft dutiful and loyal fubjects, the commons of England in parliament affembled, being defirous to raise the money neceffary for carrying on the prefent war, and other your Majefty's most preffing occafions, by fuch ways and means as

are most easy to your Majesty's fubjects, do chearfully and unanimously grant unto your Majefty a further aid, to arife by contributions for annuities, to be purchased in the manner and form herein after mentioned; and do humbly befeech your Majefty that it may be enacted: and be it enacted by the Queen's moft excellent majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this present parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for any perfon or persons, natives or foreigners, to contribute, advance, and pay into the receipt of her Majefty's Exchequer, for her Majefty's use, at or before the respective days and times in this act limited in that behalf, any fum or fums of money, not exceeding in the whole the fum of eight hundred seventy seven thousand nine hundred and thirty pounds, nineteen fhillings, and three pence halfpenny, for purchafing fuch several and respective annuities as are herein after-mentioned (that is to fay) any fum and fums of money, not exceeding fix hundred and ninety thousand pounds (part of the faid whole fum not exceeding eight hundred feventy seven thousand nine hundred and thirty pounds, nineteen fhillings, and three pence halfpenny) for any annuity or annuities to be paid during the full term of ninety nine years, to be reckoned from the faid five and twentieth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and five, at the rate of fifteen years purchase; which rate doth amount to the fum of one hundred and fifty pounds for every such annuity of ten pounds per annum, and proportionably for any greater annuity; and the fame rate or confideration-money, for the faid full term of ninety nine years, is hereby appointed to be paid into the faid receipt at or before the refpective days and times herein afterTimes of pay- mentioned (that is to fay) one third part thereof on or before the first day of May, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and five; one other third part thereof, on or before the four and twentieth day of June, in the faid year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and five; and the remaining third part thereof on or before the nine and twentieth day of September, in the fame year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred Annuities fo and five: all which annuities, so to be purchased for the faid full purchased, not term of ninety nine years, fhall not exceed in the whole the fum of forty fix thousand pounds per annum, and shall be paid and payable at the four moft ufual feafts in the year (that is to fay) the feaft of the annunciation of the bleffed virgin Mary, the nativity of St. John Baptift, St. Michael the archangel, and the birth of our Lord Chrift, by even and equal portions; the first payment to be made at or upon the feaft of the annunciation of the bleffed virgin Mary, which fhall be in the year of our Lord one thousand feven hundred and fix.

II. And whereas the perfons, who are or may be intitled to the refpective eftates for life or lives, purchased upon the faid att of the fecond year of your Majefty's reign, or fome of them, are or may be willing and defirous (for such respective prices or confiderations as are

herein after-mentioned) to have fuch their respective eftates for life or lives changed or converted into a certain term or terms for ninety nine years, to be computed from the faid five and twentieth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand feven hundred and four, of and in fuch or the like annuities as they have for life or lives, as aforefaid, or that they, or fuch as they fball nominate his, her, or their executors, adminiftrators, and affigns refpectively (for the like refpective prices or confiderations) fhall or may be intitled to have, receive, and enjoy the like annuity from and after the determination of his, her, or their eftate for life or lives, as aforefaid, for and during the refidue which Jhall be then to come and unexpired of the faid term of ninety nine years laft-mentioned; and in cafes where the prefent owner of any fuch annuity for life or lives is or may be unwilling (if any fuch be) to purchafe a further or more certain eftate or intereft therein, it is likely that fome other person or perfons is or may be defirous to be admitted to purchase a future eftate or intereft in fuch or the like annuity or annuities, to take effect from and after the determination of the refpective eftate for one, two, or three lives in being, and to continue for and during the then refidue and remainder of the faid term of ninety nine years, to be reckoned from the faid five and twentieth day of March, one thousand seven hundred and four, which shall be then to come and unexpired:

III. IV. And it is hereby further enacted, That if any perfon or If one third perfons, being intitled to any eftate for one, two, or three of the confilives in being, in any fuch present annuity or annuities, as aforefaid, thall not, on or before the faid laft day of March, the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and five, vance and pay into the said receipt of Exchequer, one third at the least of such refpective rate or confideration money, as is beforementioned, for changing his, her, or their eftate for purchase. one, two, or three lives into a term certain, or for a future intereft, as aforefaid, that then and in every fuch cafe, it fhall and may be lawful to and for any person or persons whatsoever, natives or foreigners (having or not having any property or intereft in fuch eftate for life or lives) at any time or times after the faid laft day of March, one thousand seven hundred and five, and within the refpective days and times by this act li mited in this behalf, to contribute, advance, and pay into the faid receipt of Exchequer, for the purposes aforefaid, fuch respective rates or confideration monies, as are herein after pointed for purchasing of such annuities, to commence after the determination of the faid eftates for one, two, or three lives refpectively, as are herein after expreffed (that is to fay) in Conditions of every or any cafe where any annuity was purchafed upon the purchase for faid former act for one life only ftill in being, and the prefent one life, owner shall have made no further payment for a future intereft, or certain term therein, according to this act, any perfon or perfons, as aforefaid, may contribute and pay the confideration money, after the rate of fix years purchase for such or the like annuity, to be paid and payable to him, her, or them, his, her, or their executors, administrators, and affigns, from and immediately after the determination of every fuch eftate for a single life (which is to be named in every talley for fuch purchase money, and in the order thereupon) and to continue from thenceforth for and during all the reft and refidue, which fhall be then to come and unexpired, of and in the faid term of ninety nine years, to be reckoned from the said five and twentieth day of March, one thousand seven hundred and four; and in every or any cafe where any annuity was purchafed upon the faid former act for two lives ftill in being, Two lives, and the prefent owner fhall have made no further payment for a future intereft, or a certain term therein, according to this act, any perfon or perfons, as aforefaid, may contribute and pay the confideration-money, after the rate of four years purchafe for fuch or the like annuity, to be paid and payable to him, her, or them, his, her, and their executors, adminiftra
