II. Provided always, and be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, That an act of parliament made in the twelfth 12Car. 2. c. 19. year of the reign of the faid King Charles the Second, intituled, An act to prevent frauds and concealments of his Majesty's customs 13 & 14 Car. and fubfidies; as alfo an act made in the fourteenth year of the reign of the faid late King Charles the Second, intituled, An act for preventing frauds and abufes in his Majefty's customs; and alfo 22 Car.2.c.13. an act made in the two and twentieth year of the reign of the faid late King Charles the Second, intituled, An act for the improvement of tillage, and the breed of cattle; and also one other act 25 Car. 2. c. 6. made in the five and twentieth year of the reign of the faid late King Charles the Second, intituled, An act for taking off aliens duties upon commodities of the growth, product and manufacture of the nation; and also one other act made in the faid five and twen25 Car. 2. c.7. tieth year of the reign of the faid late King Charles the Second, intituled, An act for the encouragement of the Greenland and Eaftland traders, and for the better fecuring the plantation trade; and also one other act made in the first year of the reign of King James the Second, intituled, An additional act for the improvement of tillage; and one act made in the eighth year of the reign of his late majesty King William the Third, intituled, An act for the lefening the duty upon tin and pewter exported, and granting an equivalent for the fame by a duty upon drugs; and another act of the ninth year of his reign, For encreafing his Majefty's duties upon luftrings and alamodes; and one act made in the ele3. venth year of his reign, intituled, An act for taking away the duties upon the woollen manufactures, corn, grain, bread, bifcuit, and meal exported; and all clauses and directions whatsoever contained therein, or in any other act or acts of parliament now in force concerning the faid fubfidy of tonnage and poundage, and other fums of money upon merchandize imported, which were granted in the twelfth year of the reign of King Charles the Second, as aforefaid, shall be of full force and effect until the faid first day of August, which fhall be in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and twelve.

III. Provided nevertheless, and be it declared and enacted, Except claufes intended to be That nothing herein contained fhall be conftrued or taken to perpetual. determine any articles or claufes in any of the last-mentioned acts, hereby enacted to be in force until the faid first day of Auguft, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, which were appointed and intended to be perpetual, or which were continued by any act of parliament for any time which will not expire by or before the faid first day of Auguft, one thousand seven hundred and twelve: but that the fame, and every of them, fhall continue and remain in force as if this prefent act had not been made: but fuch of the faid acts, and fuch claufes in any of them, as would otherwife determine before the faid first day of Auguft, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, fhall hereby be revived, and stand, continue, and be in force until the faid firft

IV. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, Duties on That the several impofitions and duties upon wines and vine- wines and gar, granted by an act made in the firft year of the reign of his vinegar, to faid late majefty King James the Second, intituled, An act for Aug. 1712. granting to his Majesty an impofition upon all wines and vinegar im- 1 Jac. 2. c. 3. ported between the four and twentieth day of June, one thousand fix hundred eighty and five, and the four and twentieth day of June, one thousand fix hundred ninety and three: which faid act, by feveral fubfequent acts of parliament, was continued until the first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and fix; and by the said

act of the first year of her Majesty's reign, intituled, An att for 1 Ann. ftat. x. making good deficiencies, and preferving the publick credit, are granted c. 13. to continue until the first day of Auguft, one thousand seven hundred and ten, fhall, by virtue of this act, be further continued to her Majefty, her heirs and fucceffors, from the last day of July, one thousand seven hundred and ten, to the first day of Auguft, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, and no longer; and that the faid act fo made in the first year of the reign of the faid late King James the Second, and all powers, provifions, penal-1 Jac. 2. c. 3. ties, articles, and claufes therein contained, for or concerning the faid impofitions on wines and vinegar, fhall continue and be in full force and effect until the faid first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, and fhall be applied, practifed, and executed for raifing, levying, collecting, anfwering, and paying the faid duties upon wine and vinegar, hereby continued, and all arrears thereof, according to the tenor and intent of this prefent act, as fully, to all intents and purposes, as if all and every the claufes, matters, and things in the faid act of the first year of the reign of the faid King James the Second contained, had been again repeated in this act, and particularly enacted.

V. C. 4. bis Majefty an impofition upon all tobacco and fugar imported between the four and twentieth day of June, one thousand fix hundred eighty and five, and the twenty fourth day of June, one thousand fix hundred ninety and three: which faid act, as for and concerning the faid duties and impofitions upon tobacco only, by feveral fubfequent acts of parliament, was continued until the first day of Auguft, one thoufand feven hundred and fix, and by the faid act

of the first year of her Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for 1 Ann. ftat. 1. making good deficiencies, and preferving the publick credit, are grant- c. 13. ed to continue until the first day of August, one thousand feven hundred and ten, fhall by virtue of this act be further continued and paid to her Majesty, her heirs and fucceffors, from the last day of July, one thousand seven hundred and ten, to the first day of Auguft, one thousand feven hundred and twelve, and no longer,

VI. Provided always, and be it enacted and declared by the authority aforefaid, That the faid duty upon tobacco, which shall be imported during the term hereby granted, and all arrears thereof, fhall be fecured, collected, raifed, levied, anfwered, and paid to her Majefty, in fuch method, and with fuch discount and allowances, and according to fuch rules and directions as are mentioned, referred to, or prescribed as to the duties or impofitions upon tobacco, in and by the act made in the parliament holden in the feventh and eighth years of the reign of King William the Third, intituled, An act for continuing feveral dutie granted by former acts upon wine, vinegar, and upon tobacco, and Eaft India goods, and other merchandizes imported, for carrying m the war against France, and not otherwise.

Duties on Eaft VII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, India goods That the feveral additional and other rates, impofitions, duties, &c. continued and charges upon the feveral forts of goods and merchandizes, granted by an act made in the second year of the reign of King William the Third, and Queen Mary, intituled, An att for granting to their Majesties certain impofitions upon all Eaft India goods and manufactures, and upon all wrought filks, and feveral other goods and merchandizes, to be imported after the five and twen tieth day of December, one thousand fix hundred and ninety, and which thereby, and by feveral fubfequent acts of parliament, were continued until the first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and fix, and by the faid act of the first year of her 1 Ann. ftat. 1. Majefty's reign, intituled, An act for making good deficiencies, and preferving the publick credit, are granted to continue until the firft day of Auguft, one thousand feven hundred and ten, shall be further continued to her Majesty, her heirs and fucceffors, from the laft day of July, one thousand feven hundred and ten, to the first day of August, one thoufand feven hundred and twelve, and no longer; and that the faid act made in the second year of their faid late Majefties reign, concerning Eaft India goods and other things therein charged, and all powers, provifions, penalties, articles, and claufes therein contained, fhall continue, and be of full force and effect, until the faid first day of Auguft, one thousand feven hundred and twelve, and shall be applied, practifed, and executed for the raifing, levying, collecting, anfwering, and paying the faid refpective duties hereby continued, and all arrears thereof, according to the tenor and intent of this prefent act, as fully, to all intents and purposes, as if the faid laft-mentioned act, and all and every the clauses, matters, and things therein contained, had been again repeated, and parExcept where ticularly enacted; except only as to fuch part of the faid acts alterations are concerning the faid impofitions on wines, vinegar, tobacco, Eaft

India goods, and other merchandizes imported, touching which other provifions or alterations are made by any act or acts of parliament now in being; which other provifions or alterations are to be obferved, and to continue during the continuance of this prefent act, and the faid act, intituled, An act for continuing feveral duties granted by former acts upon wine and vinegar, and up

on tobacco, and East India goods and other merchandizes imported, for carrying on the war against France; and every article, claufe, matter, and thing therein contained, for the raifing, levying, fecuring, anfwering, and paying the impofitions and duties on the merchandizes and commodities thereby charged, and which are by this act continued, thall be of full force and effect until the faid first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and twelve.

VIII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, New Impost That the additional and other rates, duties, impofitions, and continued to charges upon the feveral forts of goods and merchandizes grant- 1 Augult 1712. ed by an act of parliament made in the fourth year of their faid 4 & 5 W. & late Majefties reign, intituled, An act for granting to their Majeflies certain additional impofitions upon feveral goods and merchandizes, for the profecuting of the prefent war against France, which by feveral fubfequent acts of parliament were continued until the first day of Auguft, one thousand feven hundred and fix, and by the faid act of the first year of her Majesty's reign, intituled, An act for making good deficiencies, and preferving the publick credit, are c. 13. granted to continue until the first day of August, one thousand feven hundred and ten, fhall by virtue of this act be further continued, and be paid and payable to her Majefty, her heirs and fucceffors, from the last day of July, one thoufand seven hundred and ten, to the first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, and no longer; and that the faid act laftmentioned, and all powers, provifions, penalties, articles, and clauses therein contained, (except as herein after is excepted and provided) as for and concerning the faid rates, duties, and impofitions, fhall continue and be of full force and effect until the faid first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, and fhall be applied, practifed, and executed for the raifing, levying, collecting, anfwering, and paying the faid duties hereby continued, and all arrears thereof, according to the tenor and intent of this prefent act, as if the faid laft-mentioned act, and all and every the claufes, matters and things therein contained, had been again repeated, and particularly enacted in this present act.

IX. Provided also, That in all cafes where any other provi- Alterations fion or alteration is made by any act or acts of parliament now made by acts in being, in or about any other matter or thing contained in the faid act of parliament for the impofitions laft-mentioned, fuch other provifions or alterations fhall be obferved, during the continuance of the term hereby granted; any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

act of the first year of her Majesty's reign, were continued until the first day of Auguft, one thousand feven hundred and ten, fhall be, and are hereby continued to her Majefty, her heirs and fucceffors, from the last day of July, one thousand seven hundred and ten, to the first day of August, one thousand seven hundred and twelve, and no longer; and fhall be raised, levied, collected, and paid, in fuch manner and form, and by fuch ways and means, and under fuch penalties as are mentioned in the faid act for granting the faid impofitions on whale-fins and Scotch linens; which act, with all the powers, provifoes, penalties, articles, and clauses therein contained, or thereby referred to, fhall continue and be in full force until the faid first day of Auguft, one thousand feven hundred and twelve, and shall be applied, practifed, and put in execution for raifing and levying the faid duties on whale-fins, hereby continued, and all arrears thereof, as fully and effectually as if all the claufes, matters, and things therein contained, concerning the faid duties on whalefins, were repeated, and again enacted in the body of this prefent act.

XI. And whereas the faid fubfidies of tonnage and poundage, and 12 Car. 2. c. 4. the faid other duties granted therewith, in the twelfth year of King Charles the Second, as aforefaid; and the faid impofitions on wines, Jac. 2. c. 3. vinegar, and tobacco, which were first granted to King James the 1 Jac. 2. c. 4. Second, in the first year of his reign; and the faid impofitions on Eaft India goofs, and other goods charged therewith, which were first granted to their late majefties King William and Queen Mary, in the Second year of their reign; and the faid additional impofitions which were firft granted to them in the fourth year of their reign; and the faid duties on whale fins imported, which were granted to his faid late majefly King William, in the ninth year of his reign, were by the faid act of the first year of her Majefly's reign, intituled, An act for making good deficiencies, and preferving the publick credit, continued as aforefaid, until the faid firft day of August, one thousand feven hundred and ten, in the manner therein mentioned; and the faid fubfidies, impofitions, and duties arifing by the said act of the first year of her Majefty's reign, are thereby made subject and liable to the fatisfaction of the principal and intereft monies therein mentioned, great part of which principal monies do ftill remain unfatisfied, and are (together with all the intereft due, and to grow due thereupon) to be paid and discharged in the firft place out of the fubfidies, impofitions, and duties granted or continued by the act laft menAfter princi- tioned: now it is hereby further declared and enacted by the aupal and inte- thority aforefaid, That from and immediately after the time that reft monies by all the principal and intereft monies, which by the faid act of c. 13. are paid the first year of her Majefty's reign, for making good deficienoff, remainder cies, and preferving the publick credit, are charged upon the feto be paid in- veral fubfidies, duties, and impofitions laft-mentioned, fhall be to the Exche- fully paid off and fatisfied, or that fufficient money fhall be referved in the Exchequer for that purpose, then the aforefaid subfidies, duties, and impofitions laft-mentioned, to arise by the faid act of the first year of her Majefty's reign, for the remainder
