A motion was made by Mr. Garland to amend the item " for improving the navigation of Red river, thirty thousand dollars," by striking out thirty thousand dollars, and inserting fifty thousand dollars.
And on the question that the House do agree to the said motion,
It was decided in the negative.
The appropriation "for completing the navigation of the river Savannah, in removing the obstructions in said river, from the city of Savannah to its mouth," was, on motion of Mr. Wayne, reduced from fifty thousand dollars to thirty thousand dollars.
The question then recurred on concurring in the amendment which proposes to insert in said bill the following item, viz.
"For continuing and securing the works at Oswego harbor, New York, thirty thousand dollars."
A motion was made by Mr. McKinley to amend the same by striking out "thirty thousand dollars," and inserting eight thousand dollars; which motion was disagreed to by the House.
And the question was then put, that the House do agree to the amendment proposing to insert in the bill the following item, viz.
"For continuing and securing the works at Oswego harbor, New York, thirty thousand dollars."
