This book details the first four years of war in Europe, including German successes in Poland, France and the Low Countries, as well as early German triumphs in the USSR. It reveals that, whilst many of the participants in World War II had also fought in 1914-18, the war of 1939-45 far surpassed World War I in its destruction and cruelty.
