The Senfe in which the Socinian Writers underftand these Words, (that God the Father is greater than One who was no more than a mere Man,) is very low and mean. Neither is the Sabellian Expofition of this Paffage, much less flat and infipid; viz. that God the Father is greater than the Human Nature of Chrift. The plain Meaning of the Words, is, that God the Father is greater than the Son; that He that begat, must needs (for That Reason, and upon That very Account,) be greater than he that is begotten of Him.
