STRETTON. 12 Coloured Pictures. Small quarto, coloured edges. Very sweetly and simply told. It is so seldom that it is possible to commend unrese- zediy any paraphrase of the Scripture narrative that we are the more glad to find here one such wbich is in all respects satisfactory. Mothers will find it exactly what is wanted to read to very young children on a Sunday afternoon, or at other times.'-Literary Churchman.

* The story is beautifully told, much of the "text" being so neatly woven in that while there is no mistaking the old, old theme, a new light seems to shine on its many phases, giving point and force to them all. No prettier gift could be found for little children, the coloured plates being an

additional attraction.'-Schoolmaster.

Tyndale, William. A Biography. A Contribution to the Early History of the

English Bible. By Rev. R. DEMAUS, M.A. New Edition, carefully revised

by RICHARD LOVETT, M.A. With Portrait Illustration and Facsimiles . This volume has long been recognised as the standard life of Tyndale. The late

Mr. Demaus purposed issuing a revised edition, but did not live to accomplish it. While the body of the book has remained untouched, an effort has been made to give what additional information the last ten years have produced in an Editor's Preface.' The facsimiles from the priceless volumes in the British Museum make the new edition more attractive and valuable than the old, and the attempt has been made to convey to the eye the exact impression made by the originals. • The Life of Tyndale by Demaus is in every one's library who is interested in the subject.' - Academy.

An excellent treatise.'-Athenaum. It is too late in the day to criticise this book; the estimation in which it is held by students of the period with which it deals puts it beyond the wuch of criticism. But it is not too late to call attention to its merits. Mr. Demaus ransacked all the sources of information at his disposal, and bis labours have been admirably supplemented by his present editor. The result is a graphic picture of the man and his times.'--Christian,

Under the Shadow of His Wings; or, Comforting Words for the Weary. Imp. 16mo.

This book contains readings for eight weeks. Each reading consists of a passage of

Scripture, an extract from some old or modern devotional writer, and a hymn or
religious poem. The type is large and clear, so that the aged or the sick can use
it. It will be found of great service to those who visit the aged or those
suffering from chronic illness.

•The selection has been made with admirable literary taste and sound spiritual discrimination. It cannot fail to be a source of help and comfort to many of God's children at times of weakness or suffering.'- Christian Leuder.

* An excellent volume for tried, afflicted people, or indeed for any one. ... The selections are all good. Mere novelty is shunned. Sterling merit and practical suitability being the guiding

principles in the selection. It is a comforting book, and full of support to faith.'--Christian Universal Geography. Historical, Mathematical, Physical, and Political. By

*Luther Anecdotes,' etc. With Five Portraits of the Queen, and Sixty

Engravings by E. WHYMPER and others. Sm. 4to., bevelled bds., gilt edges 10 6
This book is intended to be more than a passing memorial of the Jubilee Year.

It contains a complete sketch of the leading personal and public events in the
life of the Queen. It also contains very careful sketches, written in Dr.
Macaulay's popular style, of the religious, educational, social, and political
progress during the last wonderful half-century. The sections devoted to these
subjects, no less than those bearing more directly upon the personal life of the
Queen, will be found to possess permanent value.
• One of the best of Jubilee books is Dr. Macaulay's " Victoria, R. I.: Her Life and Reign" It is
a beautifully printed and very prettily illustrated volume, and is admirable in tone and feeling.'
-Athena um

Dr. Macaulay has given a careful survey of our country's material and social progress during
the Queen's r ign. He has done this without any unnecessary parade of facts, and with a wealte
of judici us illustration that will make every page attractive to the general reader. The buok
cannot fail to be popular.'-Record.

each PART I. – VERSE.

II.-PROSE.
The object kept in view by the Editor of these books, himself a well-known writer

of verse, is to give a selection of poetical and prose readings specially suitable for
working people, whether assembled at entertainments, missionary working parties,

mothers' meetings, or ordinary winter gatherings.
The selection is as varied as the size and price of the books will allow; many of the

best-known English and American authors are represented, and it is believed that
for their special purpose these volumes will be found to surpass any that have
yet appeared.
