He left his starry crown,
And wept, and bled, and died:
To save our souls from death and hell. 3 From the dark
In glorious triumph led:
And reigns on high, the Saviour God. 4 From thence he'll quickly come
His chariot will not stay-
To realms of endless day:
And triumph in his pard'ning grace. 5 Jesus, we ne'er can pay
The debt we owe thy love:
Our gratitude approve:
[s. B. 67.]
GLORY to God on high!
Worthy the Lamb! 2 All they around the throne, Cheerfully join in one,
Praising his name:
We who have felt his blood,
Worthy the Lamb! 3 Join all the ransom'd
Praise ye his name!
Worthy the Lamb! 4 Though we must change our place, Yet shall we never cease
Praising his name:
Worthy the Lamb!
To proclaim the Saviour's praise. 2 While in him we live and move,
He defends us by his love;
He upholds us by his hand.
Manifests his guardian grace;
Shields us by his constant power. 4 While we see each other's face,
Gladly we unite to bless
5 May we walk with God below,
In his likeness daily grow,
To thee, my Saviour and my Lord,
A lofty song I'll raise; While love inspires my glowing heart,
And forms my lips to praise. 2 Worthy for ever is the Lamb
That bore our sins away:
What equal honours pay? 3 Millions of saints thy grace proclaim,
In nobler strains above;
The wonders of thy love. 4 Bless'd seraphs sing thy matchless love,
And shout thy high renown; Archangels, at thy sacred feet;
Lay their bright glories down. 5 Reign, mighty Prince! for ever reign,
Till death himself be dead; And let eternal
Till sense and language die;
In happier worlds on high.
PRAISE: TO THE HOLY SPIRIT.
6 lines 8.
CREATOR Spirit! by whose aid
And make us temples worthy thee.
Whose pow'r does heav'n and earth command;
Tosanctify us while we sing.
Rich in thy seven-fold energy;
And practise all that we believe. 4 Immortal honour, endless fame,
Attend the Almighty Father's name!
PRAISE: TO THE TRINITY.
[L. B. 238.] S. M. FATHER, in whom we live,
In whom we are and move,
Of thy creating love:
Give thanks to God on high,
And echoes through the sky. 2 Incarnate Deity,
Let all the ransom'd race
For thy redeeming grace:
to sinner's show'd, Ye heavenly choirs proclaim; And cry, Salvation to our God!
Salvation to the Lamb ! 3 Spirit of Holiness,
Let all thy saints adore
Thy heart-renewing power;
Thy love's ecstatic height,
The beatific sight.
Let all the hosts above,
And dwell upon thy love:
Before thy glorious face,
Thy everlasting praise !
