We have long been under the impression that the profession were not impressed, as they should be, with the importance of the quality of soap used by themselves and their patients; but from the number of letters received, asking for further information relative to the "Althene Skin Soap" referred to by Prof. Shoemaker in his lecture "Soap as a Factor of Health," an abstract of which we published in the April WORLD, we are sat isfied we underrated the interest of the brethren in this matter. As it is impossible, for want of space, to answer each inquiry, we must refer all in search of such information to the manufacturers, Messrs. J. W. Campion & Co., No. 916 Filbert St., Philadelphia.

Dr. Benson's map of the tongue, which appeared in December WORLD, 1887, page 450, is now published in chart form, by Dr. George H. Field, of St. Louis, Mo. It is lithographed in colors, full text, and mounted, ready to hang in your office. Price, $1.00.

Our bright and ably conducted contemporary, The Mississippi Valley Medical Monthly has changed its name to Memphis Medical Monthly. We have long considered this one of our very best exchanges, and we wish it abundant success under its new title.

Prof. S. E. Woody, A.M., M.D., Professor of Chemis try and Diseases of Children in the Kentucky School of Medicine, Louisville, Ky., writes: "I make frequent use of your "Manual of Treatment," and find it worth many times the price. It gives at once what would otherwise require much time, labor and an extensive library to obtain."

"THE MEDICAL WORLD has issued a ledger of monthly balances, combined with an index of accounts, as a companion to its visiting list. Its plan is simple, easily comprehended and easy to follow in-actual work. To each letter of the alphabet is assigned a certain number of pages. Each of these pages contains a space for four separate accounts during twelve months. Thus at a glance, by referring to this index, the account of any person may be seen. It is a compact, convenient little ledger.”—Peoria Med. Monthly.

"THE MEDICAL WORLD, Philadelphia, has issued a visiting list on a new plan. It is in sections-one book for each month. A neat leather case is provided, into which the monthly parts are slipped. By this means plenty of space is provided, and at the same time a small, flat book, convenient for the pocket."-Gaillard's Med. Journal.

"Ledger of Monthly Balances and Index of Accounts. Philadelphia; THE MEDICAL WORLD, 1520 Chestnut Street.

"For physicians who desire to keep well posted as to accounts due from month to month, nothing could be more complete and convenient than the "Ledger of Monthly Balances and Index of Accounts," published by THE MEDICAL WORLD,1520 Chestnut Street, Philadel phia. It is substantially a vest pocket remembrancer, and undoubtedly will save many practitioners hundreds of dollars and much valuable time."--Med. Bulletin.

"Ledger of Monthly Balances and Index of Accounts. A companion to the MEDICAL WORLD Visiting List.' Published by THE MEDICAL WORLD Co., 1520 Chestnut St., Philadelphia.

"This is a very neat and convenient pocket ledger, and one which will enable the practitioner to condense his accounts into a very small space accurately. To those who keep a set of books dating back for some time it will be valuable as an index of outstanding claims on old day books or pocket memoranda. The publisher of the WORLD is enterprising, and his publications attest it."--California Med. Journal.

The Annals of Surgery, the only English journal published devoted exclusively to Surgery, enters now upon its fourth year. Drs. L. S. Pilcher, of Brooklyn, N. Y., and C. B. Keetly, of London, England, are the chief editors, assisted by most all the able surgeons of this country, as well as Europe, which is sufficient guarantee of the literary merits. We bespeak for it the co-operation of the members of the profession who are interested in progressive surgery. J. H. Chambers & Co., St. Louis, Mo., are the publishers, and they deserve great credit for undertaking to produce such an important journal as Annals, and for its artistic execution.

A. M. Collins, A. M., M. D., Cameron, Mo., writes to Dr. Gregory :

"I take pleasure in acknowledging the receipt of samples of your Syrup of Dover's Powder and Syrup of Licorice. I have tested the Syrup Doveri on myself and I and it a most admirable preparation. It is pleasant to the taste and its action is fully equal to Dover's Powder, and more speedy in its effects. It is a princely thing to add to cough syrups, in fact it is a good enough cough syrup itself."

Physicians who prepare or keep their own medicines in stock, or who have their preparations ready-made at the drug stores, will please take notice, that Peptic Ferments in liquid forms gradually looses its digestive property and becomes totally inert. They should therefore never be carried in stock, but to be prepared only when prescribed. Owing to this fact, I have refrained from putting up the various liquid preparations of Pepsin. My Pepsin in its scaly (so-called crystal form), or in powdered state preserves its digestive strength for years. This Pepsin has won for itself a reputation all over the world phenominal in pharmaceutical literature. When prescribed in powder form Pulvis Aromaticus furnishes the best vehicle or adjuvant. Always underline my name when prescribing my pepsin.

If you once try the Upjohn Pills and Granules, you will always give your medicine in that form.
