REPORT

OF THE

COMMISSION OF GAS AND ELECTRICITY.

STATE OF NEW YORK,

ALBANY, N. Y., January 1, 1906.

To the Honorable the Legislature of the State of New York: Pursuant to the provisions of subdivision 7, section 9, of chapter 737 of the act of 1905, the Commission begs to submit its first report. That subdivision reads as follows:

7. Make to the

"Section 9. Such Commission shall. # Legislature an annual report containing the result, (1) of examinations or investigations conducted by it, abstracts of reports of corporations made to it, (2) recommendations as to modifications of the laws pertaining to the affairs of corporations subject to its supervision, (3) such facts and explanations as will dis-. close the methods employed in the manufacture, sale and distribution of gas and electricity for light, heat and power, (4) suggestions as to the better protection of public interests and health in the transaction of business by such corporations, and (5) a record of the meetings and an abstract of the proceedings of the Commission during the preceding year." One year has not elapsed since the appointment of the Commission, but a report to the first Legislature after the organization of the Commission is, in its opinion, justified by the work accomplished.
