A DESCRIPTIVE ACCOUNT

OF A

FAMILY TOUR TO THE WEST;

IN A

LETTER TO A LADY.

BY SALLY HASTINGS.

Celestial Guide, inspire my artless Song,
To warm the Languid, and instruct the Young;
From Error, to protect the op'ning Mind,
And point the path to Happiness refin'd;
To wake the Pious, win the careless Heart,
And Pleasure, with Improvement, to impart.
Aid me, aright, to speak thy hallowed Name;
Nor let my rash presumptuous Pen blaspheme.
Aid me to dress fair Truth in Fancy's guise :
The Truths I sing, aid me to realize.

Inspire each Thought, each Sentiment refine;
Live in each Page, preside o'er ev'ry Line;
Adorn my Muse with Grace and Love divine.
