Couvine'd that all my work was done,
My foes were slain, the vict'ry won,

When Christ, my conq'ror, dy'd.
2 No war from Sinai's top I hear;
No legal thunders strike mine ear
From an offended God;

A heav'nly voice from Calv'ry's hill
Bids all my inward pow'rs be still,
And sing redeeming blood.

3 Jesus, resigning up his breath,
Pursu'd into the shades of death
All my tremendous foes:
There, in the never-dawning cell,
He bury'd all my sin and hell,
And gloriously arose.

4 A heav'nly peace he now maintains ;
For ever and for ever reigns
Upon a throne of grace:
His life and victory are mine;
In him complete I ever shine
Before the Father's face.

Know the great Shepherd's voice,
Feel the Messiah's reign,

And in his death rejoice:

The song of ev'ry saint shall be

The great Redeemer dy'd for me;

For me, for me he fills

The Mediator's throne;

For me he now prevails,

And sends rich blessings down;
Blessings descend, blessings divine,~
Thus do I prove my Jesus mine.

Mine-all the fruits of love;
Mine-the eternal throne;
Mine-all the joys above;
And mine--the glorious crown;
All Jesus is, and has, is mine!—
Well may I all to him resign!

Ye seekers of the Lord,

Believe the promise true!
O take him at his word,

And sing 'tis all for you:

Bury your fears in Calv'ry's blood,
And bless the dying Lamb of God!

1 OH! the mysterious depths of grace,
Who shall thy secret mazes trace?
It passes human thought to know
Where this abyss of love shall flow.
2 "Twas hid in God's eternal breast,
For all his sons in Jesus blest;
Whose mystic members, from of old,
Were in the book of life enroll'd.
3 Shall one, as now in thine embrace,
Before to-morrow fall from grace;
Be doom'd to Tophet's endless flame,
Where hope or mercy never came?

4 No! glory to his name, we say,
He'll love to-morrow as to-day;
No wrath shall e'er his bosom move
Against an object of his love.

5 No heights of guilt, or depths of sin,
Where his redeem'd have ever been,
But sov'reign grace was underneath,
And love eternal, strong as death!
6 Come, then, ye saints, in strains divine
Rehearse the same in ev'ry line!
Nor fear to sing the charming lay ;-
You'll sing the same another day.
7 No other song will be th' employ
Of saints, in worlds of endless joy;
But loud hosannahs round the throne,
To the Great Sacred Three-in-One!

IN union with the Lamb,
From condemnation free,

The saints from everlasting were,
And shall for ever be.

In cov'nant, from of old,

The sons of God they were;
The feeblest lamb in Jesu's fold
Was blest in Jesus there.

Its bonds shall never break,
Tho' earth's old columns bow;

S. M.

The strong, the tempted, and the weak,
Are one in Jesus now.

4 With joy lift up your heads, Ye highly-favour'd few,

When thro' the earth destruction spreads,
For what can injure you?

5. When raging billows roll,
Or sins your peace assail,
Jesus, the anchor of your soul,
Is still within the vail.

6

Here let the weary rest,

Who love the Saviour's Name;
Tho' with no sweet enjoyment blest,
This cov❜nant stands the same.

THE HOLY SPIRIT.

1 COME, Holy Ghost, our hearts inspire,
Let us thy presence prove;

The ancient Seer's prophetic fire,
Essential light and love!

2 Come, Holy Ghost, for, moved by thee,
The prophets wrote and spoke;
Unlock the truth, thyself the key,
Unseal the sacred book.

3 Almighty Spirit, from above,
Banish our nature's night!
On our disorder'd spirits move,
And let there now be light!

4 God, through thyself, we then shall know, If thou within us shine;

And sound, in part, while yet below,
The depths of love divine!

164.

COME, Holy Spirit, come;
Let thy bright beams arise:

Dispel the darkness from our minds,
And open all our eyes.

Cheer our desponding hearts,
With visitations sweet;

Give us to lie, with humble hope,
At our Redeemer's feet.

Revive our drooping faith;

Our doubts and fears remove;
And kindle in our breasts the flames
Of never-dying love.

Convince us of our sin,

Then lead to Jesu's blood;

And to our wond'ring view reveal
The secret love of God.

Show us that loving man
That rules the courts of bliss,

The Lord of hosts, the mighty God,
Th' eternal Prince of Peace.

"Tis thine to cleanse the heart,
To sanctify the soul,

To pour fresh life on ev'ry part,
And new create the whole.
