CHAP. XIV. Of Saving Faith.
THE grace of faith, whereby the elect are enabled to
believe to the saving of their souls", is the work of the Spirit of Christ in their hearts", and is ordinarily wrought by the ministry of the word “: by which also, and by the administration of the sacraments, and prayer, it is
increased and strengthened".
II. By this faith, a Christian believeth to be true whatsoever is revealed in the word, for the authority of God him
in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body, unto the edifying of itself in love. * 2 Pet. iii. 18. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; to him be glory both now and for ever, Amen. 2 Cor. iii. 18. But we all with open face, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, ise changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. "2 Cor. vii. I.
