REAR-ADMIRAL OF THE RED, acting as Commander-in-Chief in the Mediterranean, with his Flag in the Samuel and Jane Transport, at Palermo, until the 4th of October, when it was re-hoisted in the Foudroyant.

5th.........Sailed from Palermo.

1800. January 15th

At Palermo. On the 29th of October he
shifted his Flag to the Perseus Bomb:
on the return of the Foudroyant on the
17th of November, it was re-hoisted on
board of her; but it was removed to
the Atty Transport on the 25th of that
month. On the 30th of November,
LORD NELSON was directed to place him-
self under the command of Vice-Admiral
Lord Keith, which orders he received on
the 6th of January 1800; and on the 14th
of that month, he re-hoisted his Flag in
the Foudroyant.

16th .........Sailed in the Foudroyant from Palermo.
20th .........Arrived in Leghorn Roads and joined Vice-
Admiral Lord Keith.

25th .........Sailed from Leghorn in company with Lord

12th ......Sailed from Palermo in company with Lord Keith, and passed through the Faro of

Messina for Malta.

18th ....Off Cape Passaro, in Sicily. The Foudroyant, Northumberland, Audacious, Success Frigate,

19th

March 10th

and El Corso Brig, fell in with a French
Squadron under Rear-Admiral Perrée in Le
Généreux, and captured that Ship and a
Frigate.

Off Malta. On the 24th of February, Lord
Keith left him in command of the Squadron
blockading La Valetta.

16th.........Arrived in the Foudroyant at Palermo.

At Palermo. On the 24th of March, he shifted his Flag to a Transport, the Foudroyant having returned to the blockade of Malta, off which Island, under the command of Captain Sir Edward Berry, in company with the Lion and Penelope, she captured Le Guillaume Tell on the 30th of March. Removed his Flag from the Transport to the Peterel on the 19th, and to the Foudroyant on the 21st of April.

.........Sailed from Palermo in the Foudroyant, having Sir William and Lady Hamilton on board. .........Arrived at Syracuse.

....Anchored in St. Paul's Bay, Malta. .........Anchored in Marsa Sirocco Bay, Malta. ..Under sail, off Malta.

.Arrived in the Foudroyant at Palermo. At Palermo. On the 2nd of June he was appointed a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St. Ferdinand and Merit of the Two Sicilies. 10th...............Sailed in the Foudroyant for Leghorn, having on board the Queen of Naples, three Princesses, and Prince Leopold, and Sir William and Lady Hamilton.

14th...............Arrived at Leghorn.

July 12th

At Leghorn, on the 28th of June, he shifted his Flag to the Alexander; and on the 9th of July, the Queen of Sicily, with her children, took refuge on board that Ship, but landed the next day.
