This Day is published, Price 31. 3s. Medium 4to.; 51. 5s. Imperial 4to.; and 11l. Super Royal Folio, THE HISTORY AND ANTIQUITIES OF THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF SALISBURY; ILLUSTRATED WITH A SERIES OF ENGRAVINGS, OF VIEWS, ELEVATIONS, PLANS, AND DETAILS OF THAT EDIFICE: ALSO Cattermole, del. Chapter-house at Salisbury. In the preface to this volume, the first of a series illustrative of "The CATHEDRAL ANTIQUITIES" of England, the author remarks, that "the original prospectus only promised thirty engravings and about eighty pages of letter-press; whereas, thirty-one plates, with three wood-cuts, and nearly double the quantity of literary matter are now given;" yet no additional price is charged for the work, because the proprietors are persuaded that such conduct will be rewarded by extended confidence and patronage. The plates are mostly engraved by J. and H. LE KEUX, from drawings by MACKENZIE, CATTERMOLE, and BAXTER ; and the letter-press is in the best manner of WHITTINGHAM. The author has given concise memoirs of Bishops JEWEL, BURNET, DOUGLAS, &c. with a novel Chronological List of Bishops, a Bibliographical List of Books and Prints, and a critical and architectural description of the Church and of its ancient monuments. No. I. of the History and Antiquities of NORWICH CATHEDRAL was published January 1, 1816: Twenty-four Engravings will be appropriated to that Church: and the whole will be completed in June next. The History, &c. of WINCHESTER CATHEDRAL will follow, and will consist of thirty Engravings from Drawings by E. BLORE. Mr. CATTERMOLE has completed a series of Drawings of PETERBOROUGH CATHEDRAL; and in the Summer of 1816, Mr. MACKENZIE and Mr. BLORE will prepare a set of Drawings of YORK MINSTER. The Drawings and Specimens of this Work may be seen at the Author's any day between Twelve and Two o'clock. Works on Antiquities.
