503.

LORD, help us on thy word to feed:
In peace dismiss us hence:
Be thou, in ev'ry time of need,
Our refuge and defence.

We now desire to bless thy name,

And in our hearts record,

And with our thankful tongues proclaim The goodness of the Lord.

504.

LET me but hear my Saviour say,
Strength shall be equal to thy day;'
Then I rejoice in deep distress,

Leaning on all-sufficient grace.

I glory in infirmity,

That Christ's own pow'r may rest on me; When I am weak, then am strong; Grace is my shield, and Christ my song.

505.

Lo! to the hills I lift my eyes,
Thy promis'd help I claim;

Father of mercies, glorify

The holy Jesu's name.

Salvation in that name is found,
Balm of my grief and care,

A med'cine for my ev'ry wound,
All, all I want is there.

506.

LORD, when my thoughts delight to rove
Amid the wonders of thy love,
The sight revives my drooping heart,
And bids invading fears depart.

Guilty and weak, to thee I fly,
On thine atoning blood rely;
And on thy righteousness depend,
My Lord, my Saviour, and my Friend.

Be all my heart, and all my days,
Devoted to thy single praise,
And let my glad obedience prove
How much I owe, how much I love.

507.

LORD of the sabbath, hear our vows,
On this thy day, in this thine house:
And own, as grateful sacrifice,

The songs which from our hearts arise.

Thine earthly sabbath, Lord, we love,
But there's a nobler rest above;
To that our lab'ring souls aspire,
With ardent pangs of strong desire.

O long-expected day, begin,

Dawn on these realms of woe and sin;
So would we leave this weary road,
And sleep in death, to rest in God.

508.

LIFE is the time to serve the Lord,
The time t' insure the great reward;
And while the lamp holds out to burn,
The vilest sinner may return.

509.

LORD, dismiss us with thy blessing;
Fill our hearts with joy and peace;
Let us each, thy love possessing,
Triumph in redeeming grace:

O refresh us, trav'lling thro' this wilderness.

Thanks we give, and adoration,

For thy gospel's joyful sound; May the fruits of thy salvation

In our hearts and lives abound! Ever faithful to the truth may we be found!

So whene'er the signal's given

Us from earth to call away, Borne on angels wings to heav'n, Glad the summons to obey,

May we ever reign with Christ in endless day!

510.

My God, how endless is thy love!
Thy gifts are ev'ry ev'ning new;
And morning mercies from above
Gently distil like early dew.

Thou spread'st, the curtains of the night,
Great Guardian of my sleeping hours;
Thy sov'reign word restores the light,
And quickens all my drowsy pow'rs.
I yield my pow'rs to thy command;
To thee I consecrate my days;
Perpetual blessings from thy hand
Demand perpetual songs of praise.

511.

MERCY, good Lord, mercy I ask,
This is the total sum;
For mercy, Lord, is all my suit,
Lord, let thy mercy come.

512.

My rising soul, with strong desires,
To perfect happiness aspires,

With steady steps would tread the road
That leads to heav'n, that leads to God.

I thirst to drink unmingled love
From the pure Fountain-head above:
My dearest Lord, I long to be
Empty'd of sin, and full of thee.

For thee I pant, for thee I burn,
Art thou withdrawn? again return,
Nor let me be the first to say,

Thou wilt not hear when sinners pray.

513.

MAY the grace of Christ our Saviour,
And the Father's boundless love,
With the Holy Spirit's favour,

Rest upon us from above!
Thus may we abide in union

With each other and the Lord! Still possess, in sweet communion, Joys which earth cannot afford.

514

MARCH on, my soul, the heav'nly way,
No more, ye guilty fears, dismay,
My Jesus ever reigns;

Defy the world, sin, Satan, death,
His everlasting arm beneath,
The victory obtains.

515

Now, Lord, inspire the preacher's heart,
And teach his tongue to speak;
Food to the hungry soul impart,

And cordials to the weak.

O bless us all with light and pow'rs
To walk in wisdom's ways;

So shall the benefit be ours,

And thou shalt have the praise.

516.

Now to the Lamb that once was slain

Be endless blessings paid;
