Paschal Lamb, by God appointed,

All our sins on thee were laid: By Almighty love anointed,

Thou hast full atonement made: All thy people are forgiven,

Through the virtue of thy blood: Open'd is the gate of heaven;

Peace is made 'twixt man and God.

Jesus, hail, enthron'd in Glory,
There for ever to abide!
All the heav'nly hosts adore thee,
Seated at thy Father's side:
There for sinner's thou art pleading,
There thou dost our place prepare;
Ever for us interceding,

Till in glory we appear.

Worship, honour, power, and blessing,
Thou art worthy to receive;
Loudest praises, without ceasing,
Meet it is for us to give:
Help, ye bright angelic spirits!
Bring your sweetest, noblest lays!
Help to sing our Saviour's merit;
Help to chant Immanuel's praise.

130. Hosanna to Christ.

HOSANNA to the royal Son

Of David's ancient line!
His natures two, his person one,
Mysterious and divine.

The root of David, here, we find,
And off-spring are the same:

Eternity and time are join'd
In our Immanuel's name.

Blest he that comes to wretched man,
With peaceful news from heav'n!
Hosannas of the highest strain,

To Christ the Lord be giv'n.
Should we, dear Lord, refuse to take
Th' Hosanna on our tongues,

The rocks and stones would rise and break Their silence into songs.

131.

Praise to Jesus.

HARK! how the gospel trumpet sounds,
Thro' all the earth the echo bounds!
And Jesus, by redeeming blood
Is bringing sinners back to God;
And guides them safely by his word!
To endless day.

Hail, all victorious, conqu'ring Lord!
Be thou by all thy works ador'd,
Who undertook for sinful man,

And brought salvation through thy name,
That we with thee may ever reign
In endless day.

Fight on ye conqu'ring souls, fight on,
And when the conquest you have won,
Then palms of vict'ry you shall bear,
And in his kingdom have a share,
And crowns of glory ever wear
In endless day.

There we shall in sweet chorus join,
And saints and angels all combine
To sing of his redeeming love,

When rolling years shall cease to move,
And this shall be our theme above,
In endless day.

132. Jesus lives.

I KNOW that my Redeemer lives;
What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives! he lives, who once was dead,
He lives! my ever living head.

He lives triumphant from the grave,
He lives eternally to save,

He lives all glorious in the sky,
He lives exalted there on high.

He lives to bless me with his love,
He lives to plead for me above,
He lives my hungry soul to feed,
He lives to help in time of need.
He lives to grant me rich supply,
He lives to guide me with his eye.
He lives to comfort me when faint,
He lives to hear my soul's complaint.
He lives to crush the pow'rs of hell.
He lives that he may in me dwell,
He lives to heal and make me whole,
He lives to guard my feeble soul.
He lives to silence all my fears,
He lives to stop and wipe my tears

He lives to calm my troubled heart,
He lives all blessings to impart.

He lives my kind, wise, heav'nly friend;
He lives and loves me to the end.

He lives, and while he lives I'll sing,
He lives my Prophet, Priest, and King.
He lives and grants me daily breath,
He lives, and I shall conquer death.
He lives my mansion to prepare,
He lives to bring me safely there.
He lives, all glory to his name,
He lives my Jesus still the same;
O the sweet joy this sentence gives,
'I know that my Redeemer lives.'

133. Prayer to Jesus.

JESUS, lover of my soul,
Let me to thy bosom fly,
While the nearer waters roll,
While the tempest still is high:
Hide me, O my Saviour, hide,
"Till the storm of life is past;
Safe into the haven guide,
O receive my soul at last!
Other refuge have I none,
Hangs my helpless soul on thee,
Leave, ah! leave me not alone,
Still support and comfort me!
All my trust on thee is stay'd,
All my help from thee I bring;
I

Cover my

defenceless head

With the shadow of thy wing.

Thou, O Christ, art all I want,

More than all in thee I find;
Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
Heal the sick, and lead the blind.
Just and holy is thy name,
I am all unrighteousness!
Vile and full of sin I am;

Thou art full of truth and grace!
Plenteous grace with thee is found,
Grace to pardon all my sin;
Let the healing streams abound,
Make and keep me pure within:
Thou of life the fountain art,
Freely let me take of thee;
Spring thou up within my heart,
Rise to all eternity!

134. Prayer to Jesus.

JESUS shall reign where'er the sun
Does his successive journies run;
His kingdom stretch from shore to shore,
'Till moons shall wax and wane no more,
To him shall endless pray'r be made,
And princes throng to crown his head;
His name like sweet perfume shall rise
With ev'ry morning sacrifice.

People and realms of ev'ry tongue
Dwell on his love with sweetest song;
And infant-voices shall proclaim
Their early blessings on his name.
