The committee appointed to wait on his Excellency, the Gor ernor, reported that his Excellency would communicate to the Senate in a few moments, after which he would have no further communication to make, and that his Excellency requested them to tender to the Senate his warmest good wishes, &c.

DOCUMENT No. 2.-Statement of the Comptroller of the State of

Florida.

COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE,
Nov. 17th, 1845.

Sir: I have the honor to present herewith a report of my official
proceedings from the 26th July, to 31st October, 1845.

Statement No. 1, shows the amount of Warrants drawn upon the
Treasurer during that time to be eleven thousand two hundred and
ninety-nine dollars and one cent, ($11,299 01.)

Statement No. 2, will exhibit the amount of each kind of tarable
property in each county in the State, and the amount of taxes assess
ed, so far as returns have been made to the Comptroller's Office. It
will appear that twenty-nine thousand one hundred and sixty-five
dollars and twenty-one cents, ($29,165 21,) have been assessed in
the Counties from which returns have been received, and that nine
counties remain to be heard from, which will probably increase the
amount of Revenue, exclusive of Licenses, Auction Tax, Fines and
Forfeitures to thirty-five thousand dollars, ($35,000.)

In compliance with the 11th Section of the Act to organise the
Office of Comptroller of Public Accounts, I appointed the Solicitors
of the several Circuits to make the enquiry and examination as di-
rected therein. The time allowed them to make these examinations
has not been sufficient to enable them to make their reports, and I
have deferred making a statement of the condition of the Territorial
Treasury, until full reports have been made, which it is believed will
be received in time to lay before the present Session of the General
Assembly.
