HE impression is common, that the Plymouth Brethren are a good sort of people-perhaps righteous over-much, or, like other small sects,

specially fond of their own peculiarities, but differing from the great body of Christian professors, simply on the subject of Church polity. Our object, then, is to disabuse those who hold this opinion of their mistake. The Brethren differ from others, not only as to the constitution and government of the Church, they are opposed to almost every doctrine of Christianity. To be assured that theirs is. a system fraught with the most pernicious errors, it is only necessary to glance at the formidable array of their denials of fundamental doctrines, and the theological fancies which they would have us to accept in their stead. These will be found enumerated in our table of contents.

What claim, then, a system so negative in its character, and so fraught with positive errors, has to the designation
