27. Surely thou wilt fave the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.

28. Thou also wilt light up my lamp; the Lord my God will enlighten my darkness.

29. For by thee I shall break through an host; and by my God, I shall leap over a rampart. of God is an undefiled way; 30. The way word of the Lord is tried; he is a buckler to all that truft in him.

31. For who is a God fave the Lord? or who is a rock, fave our God.

32. He is the God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

33. He maketh my feet like hind's feet; and fetteth me firm upon high places.

34. He teacheth my hands to war; and mine arms like a bow of brass.

35. Thou haft given me the shield of thy falvation, thy right hand also hath holden me up, and thy favour hath made me great.

36. Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, and haft not suffered my feet to flide.

37. I have purfued mine enemies, and overtaken them; neither did I turn again till they were confumed.

38. I have fmote them, that they were not able to rife; they are fallen under

my feet.

39. For thou haft girded me with strength unto the battle, thou haft fubdued under me those that rofe up against me.

40. Thou haft also given me the necks of mine enemies, and I have destroyed them that hated me, 41. They cried but there was none to fave them; even unto the Lord, but he answered them not.

42. Then did I beat them small as the dust before the wind; I trampled them down, as the mire in the streets.

43. Thou haft delivered me from the strivings of the people; and thou hast made me the head of the nations.

44. A people, whom I know not, ferveth me; they listen to me with a listening ear.

45. Sons of strangers fubmit themselves to me, fons of strangers trembled and fainted with fear in their strong holds.

46. The Lord liveth, and bleffed be my rock; and let the God of my falvation be exalted.

47. It is God that avengeth me, and fubdueth the people under me.

48. He delivereth me from mine enemies, yea, thou lifteft me up above thofe that rise up against thou haft delivered me from the violent man. 49. Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the nations; and fing praises unto thy name. 50. Great deliverance giveth he to his king; and fheweth mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his feed for ever.

FOURTH MORNING.

Morning Prayer.

PSALM XIX.

That the Divine Perfections are difcoverable both by the phænomena of the material world, and the excellence of the laws which God has revealed to man.

1. THE Heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament fheweth his handy work.

2. Day unto day uttereth instruction, and night unto night fheweth knowledge.

3. There is no fpeech nor language, where their voice is not heard.

4. Their found is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.

5. In them hath he fet a tabernacle for the fun, who cometh forth as a bridegroom out of his chamber, and rejoiceth as a strong man to run his course.

6. His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it; and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.

7. The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the foul; the testimony of the Lord is fure, making wife the fimple.

8. The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the Lord is bright, enlightening the eyes.

9. The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring for ever; the judgments of the Lord are true, and righteous altogether.

10. More to be defired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold; fweeter alfo than honey, and ⚫ the droppings of the honey-comb.

11. Moreover by them is thy fervant taught; and in keeping of them there is great reward.

12. Who can understand his errors? O cleanse thou me from my fecret faults.

13. Keep back thy fervant alfo from prefumptuous fins, let them not have dominion over me; then fhall I be upright, and innocent from great transgreffion.

14. Let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable in thy fight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.

PSALM XX.

This is a public acclamation to the king by the people, after his return home from victory, in which they pray that God will always grant him the like fuccefs in future.

1. THE Lord hear thee in the day of trouble, the name of the God of Jacob defend thee.

2. Send thee help from the fanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Sion.

3. Remember all thy offerings, and accept thy burnt facrifice.

4. Grant thee according to thine own heart, and fulfill all thy counfels.

5. We will rejoice in thy falvation, and triumph in the name of our God: the Lord fulfill all thy petitions.

6. Now know I that the Lord faveth his anointed, he heareth him from his holy heaven, with the faving strength of his right hand.

7. Some trust in chariots, and fome in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

8. They are brought down and fallen; but we are risen and stand upright.

9. Lord fave the king, and hear us when we call.
