11. For as the heaven is high above the earth; so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.

12. As far as the east is from the weft; so far hath he removed our tranfgreffions from us.

13. Like as a father pitieth his children; fo the Lord pitieth them that fear him.

14. For he knoweth our frame, he remembereth that we are but duft.

15. As for man, his days are as grafs; as a flower of the field fo he flourisheth.

16. For the wind paffeth over it and it is gone, and the place thereof shall know it no more.

17. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlafting upon them that fear him; and his righteousness to children's children.

18. To fuch as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them.

19. The Lord hath prepared his throne in the heavens; and his kingdom ruleth över all.

20. O praise the Lord, ye angels of his, ye that excel in ftrength, that fulfil his commandment, hearken unto the voice of his word.

21. O praise the Lord, all ye his hofts, ye minifters of his that do his pleasure.

22. Praise the Lord all ye his works in all places of his dominion. Praife thou the Lord, O my foul.

PSALM CIV.

This Pfalm celebrates the power, wisdom, and goodnefs of God towards men, manifefted in the creation of the world, and the confervation of all things. It was fung alternately by two choruffes; one addresses itfelf to God; the other fpeaks of him.

1. PRAISE the Lord, O my foul: O Lord my God, thou art very great, thou art clothed with majesty and honour.

2. Who deckeft thyfelf with light, as with a garment; who stretcheft out the heavens like a curtain.

4. Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters, who maketh the clouds his chariot, who walketh upon the wings of the wind.

4. Who maketh the winds his meffengers; flame and fire his minifters.

5. Who laid the foundation of the earth that it fhould not be removed for ever.

6. Thou coveredft it with the deep as with a garment; the waters stood above the mountains.

7. At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.

8. The mountains rose up, the vallies funk down into the place which thou hadst appointed for them.

9. Thou haft fet a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth. 10. He fendeth out the springs in brooks, which run among the hills.

11. They give drink to every beast of the field; the wild affes quench their thirst.

12. Befide them have the fowl of the air their habitation; they utter their voice among the branches. 13. He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is fatisfied with the fruit of his works.

14. He causeth the grafs to grow for the cattle; and herb for the fervice of man, that he may bring forth food out of the earth:

15. And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to fhine, and bread which strengthneth man's heart.

16. The trees of the Lord are fatisfied; the cedars of Lebanon which he hath planted.

17. Wherein the birds make their nefts; and the fir-trees are a dwelling for the stork.

18. The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats, and the rocks for the Arabian hare.

19. He appointeth the moon for feafons; the fun

knoweth his going down.

20. Thou makest darkness and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest come forth.

21. The young lions roar after their feek their food from God.

prey, and

22. The fun arifeth, they get them away together, and lay them down in their dens.

23. Man goeth forth to his work, and to his labour until the evening.

24. O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom haft thou made them all; the earth is full of thy riches.

25. So is the great and wide fea, wherein are things moving innumerable; living creatures both fmall and great,

26. There go the fhips; there is that leviathan, whom thou haft made to sport therein.

27. These wait all upon thee, that thou mayest give them their meat in due feafon.

28. Thou givest it to them, they gather it; thou openest thine hand, they are filled with good,

29. Thou hideft thy face, they are troubled; thou takest away their breath, they die and return to their duft.

30. Thou fendeft forth thy fpirit, they are creatand thou renewest the face of the earth.

ed; 31. The glory of the Lord fhall endure for ever; the Lord fhall rejoice in his works.

32. He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth; he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.

33. I will fing unto the Lord, as long as I live; I will fing praises unto my God, while I have my being.

34. So fhall my words please him; my joy fhall be in the Lord.

35. As for finners they shall be confumed out of the earth, and the ungodly shall be no more: praise thou the Lord, O my foul; praise the Lord.

TWENTY-FIRST MORNING.

Morning Prayer.

PSALM CV.

The first fifteen verfes of this Pfalm are part of that longer one, which David compofed when he removed the Ark from Obededom to Mount Sion. It is probable that this extract from David's original compofition, as well as the 96th Pfalm, with fuch additions and alterations as feemed adapted to the occafion, was ufed on the confecration of the second temple, after the return from the Babylonifh captivity.
