rufalem. This Pfalm must have been written after he had obtained the government of the twelve tribes, because he mentions the city of God, which was not in his poffeffion before that time.

1. I WILL fing of mercy and judgment; unto thee, O Lord, will I fing.

2. I will conduct myself wifely in the perfect way; when thou fhalt come unto me, I will walk within my house in the uprightness of my heart.

3. I will fet no wicked thing before mine eyes; I hate him that committeth tranfgreffions, he fhall not cleave unto me,

4. A froward heart fhall depart from me; I will not know a wicked perfon,

5. Whofo privily flandereth his neighbour, him will I cut off; him that hath a high look, and a proud heart, I will not fuffer.

6. Mine eyes fhall be upon the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; he that walketh in the way that is perfect fhall ferve me.

7.

He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house; he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my fight.

8. In the mornings I will destroy the ungodly of the land; that I may cut off all wicked doers from the city of the Lord.

TWENTIETH MORNING.

Morning Prayer.

PSALM CII.

This Pfalm was written about the end of the captivity; it pathetically defcribes the melancholy condition of the Jews.

1. HEAR my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.

2. Hide not thy face from me; in the day when I am in trouble, incline thine ear unto me; in the day when I call, anfwer me speedily.

3. For my days are confumed like fioke; and my bones are burnt as a fire-brand.

4. My heart is fmitten, and withereth like grass; fo that I forget to eat my bread.

5. By reason of the voice of my groaning, my bones cleave to my

skin.

6. I am like the pelican of the wilderness; I am like an owl of the defart.

7. watch, and am as the lonely bird upon the house top.

8. Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me, make a curse of me.

9. Surely I have eaten afhes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping:

10. Because of thine indignation and wrath; because thou haft made me defolate and caft me down.

11. My days are like a fhadow that declineth, and I am withered like grass.

12. But thou, O Lord, fhalt endure for ever; and thy memorial unto all generations.

13.

Thou shalt arise and have mercy upon Zion, for the time to favour her, yea the set time is come. 14. For thy fervants take pleasure in her ftones, and favour the duft thereof.

15. So fhall the nations fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. 16. When the Lord fhall build up Zion, he fhall appear in his glory.

1. He will regard the prayer of the deftitute, and not despise their desire.

18. This fhall be written for the generation to come; and the people that shall be born, shall praise the Lord.

19. For he hath looked down from the height of his fanctuary, from heaven did the Lord behold the earth.

20. To hear the groaning of the prisoner, to loofe the children of death.

21. To declare the name of the Lord in Zion, and his praise in Jerufalem,

22. When the people are gathered together, and the kingdoms to ferve the Lord.

23. He hath weakened my strength in the way, he hath shortened my days.

24. I have faid, O my God, take me not away in the midst of my days; thy years are throughout all generations.

25. Of old haft thou laid the foundations of the earth; and the heaven are the works of thy hands.

26. They fhall perish, but thou fhalt endure; yea, all of them shall wax old as a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed.

27. But thou art the fame, and thy years fhall not fail.

28. The children of thy fervants fhall continue in the land, and their feed shall be established before thee.

PSALM CIII.

In this Pfalm the Author exhorts himself and the whole creation to praife and celebrate God for his great goodness and the righteousness of his government.

1. PRAISE the Lord, O my foul, and all that is within me blefs his holy name.

2. Praise the Lord, O my foul, and forget not all his benefits.

3. Who forgiveth all thy fins; who healeth all thine infirmities.

4.

Who redeemeth thy life from deftruction; who crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies.

5. Who filleth the morning of thy life with good things; and reneweth thy youth as an eagle's.

6. The Lord executeth righteoufnefs, and judgment for all that are oppreffed with wrong.

7. He made known his ways unto Mofes, his works unto the children of Ifrael.

8. The Lord is full of compaffion and mercy, long-fuffering, and of great goodness.

9. He will not always chide, neither keepeth he his anger for ever.

10. He hath not dealt with us after our fins, nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.
