MARYLAND Company in the Expedition against Canada,

1746.

Original muster roll found by the author, in the Public Record office, London, who secured this certified copy, which is now published for the first time.

"Mustered then one of the Companys of Foot Raised in the Province of Maryland for an expedition against Canada commanded by His Excellency the Honourable George Clinton, Captain General and Commander-inChieff of the Province of New York, &c, &c, &c. One Captain, One Lieutenant, One Ensign, Four Sergeants, Four Corporals, Two Drum's and Ninety Four Private men (His muster being from the time Officers enter'd into his Majesty's Service and the several days of the men's Enlistments as above specified and Ending the Twenty Fourth day of June (Inclusive) One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Six.

This is to Certify that One Captain, One Lieutenant, One Ensign, Four Sergeants, Four Corporals, Two Drum's and Ninety Four Private Men (The Officers from the time they entered into His Majesty's Service and the Several days of the men's Enlistments) were Effective in my

Company to the twenty-fourth day of June (Inclusive) One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Six.

"The Situation of the Forces on the Present Expedition being such at the time this Muster ought to have been Taken has Render'd it impossible to follow the usual forms Directed by Act of Parliament and Articles of Warr, and the Roll (Pursuant to an Order from his Excellency the Honourable George Clinton, Captain and General Commander-in-Chieff of the Province of New York) being Prepared and Returned to me as on the other side, I have (in order not to obstruct the good of his Majesty's service) Signed the same, leaving the said Roll to be rectifyed in the Office according to the Returns Sent home from time to time of the effectives by the Commander-in-Chieff.
