CXVII. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful for His Majefty to make any fuch further or other Regulations for the advancing of any Sums of Money in all such cases of Extention of Furlough, and for the Re-imbursement thereof as may be from time to time neceffary for the carrying the fame into Effect and enfuring the immediate Advance of fuch Money, where neceffary, in Great Britain or Ireland, and the due and regular Re-imbursement thereof.

CXXX. And whereas it may otherwise be doubted, whether the Officers and Perfons ferving in the Royal Artillery, and those hired to be employed in the Trains of Artillery, or the Officers ferving in the Corps of Royal Engineers, or the Officers and Perfons ferving in the Corps of Royal Military Surveyors and Draftfmen, or the Corps of Royal Sappers and Miners, or the Master Gunners, and Gunners under the Ordnance, be within the Intent and Meaning of this Act;' It is hereby enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That the Officers and Perfons ferving and hired to be employed, or who fhall ferve and be hired to be employed in the Royal Artillery, and in the feveral Trains of Artillery, and all Officers ferving or who fhall ferve in the Corps of Royal Engineers, and all Officers and Perfons ferving or who fhall ferve in the Corps of Royal Military Surveyors and Draftfmen, or in the Corps of Royal Sappers and Miners, and all Mafter Gunners, and Gunners who now are or shall be under the Ordnance, fhall be at all times fubject to all the Penalties and Punishments mentioned in this Act, and fhall in all refpects whatsoever, be holden to be within the Intent and Meaning of every Part of this Act, during the continuance of the fame, and fhall be quartered and billetted, together with the Horfes employed for the Service of the faid Corps, in the same manner and under the fame Penalties and Regulations as are directed by this Act to be obferved in quartering and billetting the Officers, Soldiers and Horfes, of His Majefty's other Forces; and all Innkeepers and others on whom the Officers and Perfons ferving in the faid Corps, and the Horfes employed therein fhall be legally quartered, refufing to receive and provide for them as is directed for the Officers, Soldiers and Horfes, of His Majefty's other Forces, fhall be subject to the fame Penalties as in the cafe of His Majefty's other Forces.

CAP. XXVI.

An Act for repealing the Duties of Cuftoms on Madder imported into Great Britain, and for granting other Duties in lieu thereof; to continue in force until the Fifth Day of January One thoufand eight hundred and feventeen.

WHEREAS it is expedient that the Duties of Cuftoms pay

able on the Importation of Madder into Great Britain 'fhould ceafe and determine, and that other Duties of Customs fhould be impofed in lieu thereof;' Be it therefore enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That, from and after the paffing of this Act, the feveral Duties of Cuftoms (a), impofed by an Act paffed in the Forty ninth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An A& for repealing the Duties of feveral Duties of Customs chargeable in Great Britain, and for grant- by 49 G. 3. ing other Duties in lieu thereof, and by an Act paffed in the last Seffion c. 98. of Parliament, intituled An Ad for granting certain additional Duties, 53 G. 3. c. 31. of Customs imported into and exported from Great Britain, fhall ceafe to ceafe. and determine, fave and except in all cafes relating to the recovering or paying any Arrears thereof respectively, which may, on the paffing of this Act remain unpaid, or to any Fines, Penalties or Forfeitures relating thereto, which fhall have been incurred at any time before the paffing of this Act. II. And be it further enacted, That, from and after the paffing Ad valorem of this Act, there fhall be raised, levied, collected and paid unto Duty of 5 per His Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, upon all Madder imported into Cent, paid on Great Britain a Duty of Customs of Five Pounds for every One hundred Pounds of the true and real Value thereof, which Value fhall be ascertained according to the Declaration to be made by the Owner or Proprietor, or his known Agent, in like Manner and Form and under the Rules, Regulations, Restrictions and Conditions, and

fuch Goods shall be subject and liable to fuch and the like Forfeitures and Penalties as are prescribed and directed for ascertaining and collecting Duties to be paid according to the Value by an Act paffed 27 G. 3. c. 13. in the Twenty feventh Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, inti$17. tuled An Ad for repealing the several Duties of Cuftoms and Excife, and granting other Duties in lieu thereof, and for applying the faid Duties, together with the other Duties compofing the Public Revenue; for permitting the Importation of certain Goods, Wares and Merchandize, the Produce or Manufacture of the European Dominions of the French King, into this Kingdom; and for applying certain unclaimed Monies remaining in the Exchequer, for the Payment of Annuities on Lives, to the Reduction of the National Debt, or by any fubfequent Act or Acts (a) relative thereto in force on or immediately before the paffing of this A&t. And be it further enacted, That nothing herein contained unmanufactured fhall extend, or be conftrued to extend to charge with Duty any Madder Root unmanufactured which fhall be imported into Great Britain from any Country or Place before the Fifth Day of January One thoufand eight hundred and fixteen, except from France, or any Country, Place or Territory annexed to France, or under the Dominion of the Perfon or Perfons exercifing the Powers of Sovereignty in France.

IV. And be it further enacted, That the Duty of Customs granted by this Act shall and may be managed, afcertained, raifed, levied, collected, answered, paid and recovered in fuch and the like manner as the Duties on Madder hereby repealed were or might be managed, afcertained, raised, levied, collected, anfwered, paid and recovered, and the Goods fhall be fubject and liable to all and every the Conditions, Rules, Regulations, Reftrictions, Seizures and Forfeitures as fuch Goods were fubject and liable to by any Act or Acts of Parlia ment in force on or immediately before the paffing of this Act.

V. And be it further enacted, That all Monies arifing from the Duties impofed by this Act, the neceffary Charges of raifing and accounting for the fame excepted, fhall from time to time be paid into the Receipt of His Majefty's Exchequer at Westminster, and shall be appropriated and applied in the fame manner as the Duties of Cuftoms impofed on the like Goods under the Head of Permanent Duties were directed to be appropriated and applied.

VI. And be it further enacted, That this Act may be altered, amended or repealed by any Act or Acts to be made in this present Seffion of Parliament.

VII. And be it further enacted, That this Act fhall continue in force until the Fifth Day of January One thoufand eight hundred and feventeen, and no longer.

CAP. XXVII.

An Act to rectify a Mistake in an Act of the prefent Seffion
of Parliament, for repealing the Duties of Customs on
Madder imported into Great Britain, and for granting other
Duties in lieu thereof.

HEREAS an Act was made in the prefent Seffion of Par-
liament, intituled An Ad for repealing the Duties of Customs
on Madder imported into Great Britain, and for granting other

Duties in lieu thereof; to continue in force until the Fifth Day of January One thousand eight hundred and feventeen: And whereas it was intended by the said A&t that the Duties of Customs on Madder imported into Great Britain and no other Duties should be repealed, but by Miftake the Words "on Madder" were omitted in the Claufe in the faid Act relating to the Repeal of Duties of Customs;' Now, to rectify fuch Miftake, be it enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majesty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame,

That, from and after the Tenth Day of December One thousand eight Duty on Madhundred and thirteen, the Duties of Customs upon Madder imported der only, reinto Great Britain, in the Recital of the faid Act mentioned, and no pealed by Act. other Duties of Customs, fhall be deemed and taken to be repealed by the said Act; any thing in the faid Act contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

An Act for the Relief of certain Infolvent Debtors in England. [14th December 1813.]

HEREAS it may promote the beneficial Purposes of an 53 G. 3. c. 102. A&t, paffed in the Fifty third Year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled An Ad for the Relief of Infolvent Debtors in England, and thereby render it unneceffary hereafter to make temporary Laws for the Relief of Infolvent Debtors, if fuch Provisions should be made, by Law, as are hereinafter enacted, for the Difcharge of fuch Perfons confined for Debt, as are hereinafter mentioned, to the Intent that the Number of fuch Perfons fhall be thereby fo reduced, as to render more effectual the Provifions of the faid Act of the Fifty third Year of His Majesty's Reign;' Be it therefore enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority

And be it further enacted, That the Warden of His Majefty's Prifon of the Fleet, and Marthal of The King's Bench Prifon, and every other Keeper and Gaoler of any other Prifon in any Place or Liberty in England, fhall feverally, on the delivering in of any fuch Lift of Prifoners in their respective Cuftody, take an Ŏath in the open Court of fuch General Quarter Seffions of the Peace, or Adjourn ment thereof, to the Effect following; that is to say,

Court. journment thereof, within their refpective Jurifdictions, are hereby empowered and required to adminifter in open Court; and the Words of the faid Oath hereinbefore directed to be taken by the faid Warden and Marfhal refpectively, and other Keeper or Gaoler of any Prison refpectively, fhall be entered or written at the End or Bottom of the Lift which fhall be delivered in by them refpectively, and fhall be fubfcribed and fworn to by them refpectively in open Court; and every fuch Lift which fhall be fo delivered in, fubfcribed and fworn to in purfuance of this Act, fhall be kept by the Clerk of the Peace, Town Clerk or other Officer acting as Clerk of the Peace of every fuch County, City, Town, Place or Liberty refpectively in which any fuch Lift as aforefaid fhall be fworn to, for the better Satisfaction of the faid Juftices, and Information of all or any Prifoner or Prifoners therein named, and fo as the fame may from time to time be feen and examined by any Creditor or Creditors, or Prifoner or Prifoners, without Fee or Reward.
