three thousand dollars annually for the purpose of paying any loan which may be made in pursuance of the provisions of the first section of this act, and of paying any interest which shall have accrued or may accrue on such loan; or in case no such loan shall be made, for the purpose of cutting said canal in conformity with the provisions of the first section of this act.

Sec. 3. That for the purpose of raising said tax, all property shall be subject to taxation which is subject to taxation by the act to which this is amendatory.

To authorize the Adjutant General to draw on

the Treasurer for money to meet certain expenses.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

To authorize the trustees of Washington school

district No. 2, in Snake Hollow school town, in Grant county, to sell the old school house and levy an additional tax to build a new

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin:

SECTION 1. That the trustees of Washington school dis- School house trict number two in Snake Hollow school town, in Grant to be sold and county, be and they are hereby authorized and empowered to erected. sell and convey the school house in said district, together with the land or lot of ground belonging to the same, in such manner as they shall think best, and apply the proceeds thereof to the purchasing or building a new one, in a suitable place in said district to be selected by them, or to the payment of the present debt of said district.

Sec. 2. Should the proceeds arising from the sale of the Tax to be school house and lot, as stated in the first section, be insuffi- levied. cient to purchase a lot and build a school house, the said trustees are hereby authorized and empowered to levy an additional tax on all the land and personal property in said district, not exceeding two per cent, for the purpose of purchasing a lot and building a new school house in said district.

Sec. 3. This act shall take effect from and after its passage.

Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives

of the Territory of Wisconsin: Act repealed.

SECTION 1. That an act entitled “An act to incorporate the village of Beloit," approved February 24th, 1845, be and the same is hereby repealed.
