In the generation following a revolution, the de lusion of aristocracy goes slily on, lulling to drowsy sleep the people in their moral shells, who forget the expanded glory and patriotism of their fathers, to become like the chicken unhatched, until roused by the patriotism of conquering light; excited to action by the overwhelming cloud of threatening oppression. As the hankering serpent like hungry wolves begin to bite the sheep, the cloven foot grows up to view, and all will rally at the rising storm of pending evil. When the deluded will turn directly against their deluders, and of all fury will heros unshackled from their leaders of iniquity, rise in the dawn of conquering glory, and with what vengeance crush before them, the very enemy they had so much loved.

Let a man be a moralist, a soldier, and a wise christian, and he is a great man, he combines in the same person, the true philosopher, conqueror and divi ner of light, life and liberty. Was Washington such an one? Christ was, and he is our King and Saviour. Our obedience to him, is our salvation. Was he an idle moralist, charmed to inaction by the serpent, as Adam was in the delusion of civil kings? No. A lazy man is no christian, a dormant mind is a stranger to christian glory.

But let free from the case the pup, pig or calf, and with what animal freedom, he hops, skips and jumps. No better soldiers were ever made, than those just drawn from the arms of delusion, a knowledge of rights is the cause of all liberty.

As an animal mother in the care of her young, when approached by her antagonist, will fly with enraged fury to dislodge her enemy; the Columbian on beholding surrounded in danger, that interest which is dearer than life, will rise en masse, in the majesty of their united strength, over the proud fury of all the black powers of foreign darkness, for their true interest and family is as dear to them, as the young to their mo ther; and which is plainly exhibited in the latter end of this work. Corner up the wild animal, which would otherwise be the innocent lamb, and of all enraged fury

with what vengeace, he is the wolf crushing his provoking assassin.

Corner up the freeman, and he is exactly so; when danger surrounds that which is dearer than life, nothing can withhold his provoked fury. The same is the case with all animal freedom, till tamed down to their moral case of slavery and despair, an overtaken sacrifice in the prisons and terrapin shells of kidnappers, in Algerine and British ignorance; tortured or chilling in dungeon, to pine in hunger's confinement far from dear affections and friends, or thrown at length to death as aristocracy pleases, like the innocent lamb beneath the knife of its butcher.

When the Columbians perceive with what bless. ings freedom is enjoyed, when they know where it is, and how to compare it with the awful slavery, cruelty and misery of the millions of forgotten victims of the east; perfect union will at once rise to the heavens, and how valiant will glitter our glorious sword of freedom, when "rally, rally" all will say, "come Washingtons, hand in hand, we will conquer the foe" from all our joinings and bowels, no matter for their tyrant legions of threatening destruction.

A brave nation consists in the freedom of its pecple, acting in concert and union with each other, and they can conquer the whole divided world of darkness. Victory does not depend on numbers, but on the policy of equal rights, where one thousand on their own ground can defeat divided millions of slaves, directed by the nod of a foreign king. When all the Columbians know their rights, no warriors are their equals, for their enemies will then be their best friends. Wisdom forms affection, for the deluded who now are engaged for the aggrandizement of kings, will leave the palace party, and vote and fight, for their own properties and liberty; and the tories have no proselytes, when the poor will be rich, and kings only be their equals; when the sound of the people's wicked war by the clamour of kings servants will end; when Morris's orations, Parish's preaching and pettyfogging falsehoods in our councils, will no more be the bulwark of dupes; when the songs of pretended federalism, though ever so melodi

ous in the ear of the deluded, will never make Columbians believe their despicable lies.

Pray observe, these Berkshire lines which follow,
Deluding fools, in the mire of fools to wallow-
How melodious they sound to the dupe.

"Europe is free, fair freedom cries,
"Europe is free, bright fame replies,
"Europe is free, the skies resound,

"The house of Bourbon mounts the throne. [Extracted from a Massachusetts paper, pretending to be federal ]

But how sweet the Columbian answer echoes to the aristocrat

Kings are free, the devil brays,

Kings are free for fools to praise,
Kings are free, and freemen bound,
The great Napoleon ravag'd down.

As though all Britain is free, from whom Washington revolted for freedom; has Britain reformed. Is Europe more free from kings and paupers now, than when the sword of Napoleon was shaking kings from their rebellious throne, and paupers from their enslaving shells of sleeping delusion ? has Britain reformed to freemen? can the tories of British America, so delude the Columbians, as even to convince fools, when in their right senses, that Europe is liberated by the clubbing of kings, and ravaging down conquerors, and enforcing in the place of one, twenty new kings upon the throne of sleeping slaves? Instead of kings clubbing together, had the people of Europe pulled down Bonaparte, and reinstated the French republic, and republics throughout Europe, instead of the Bourbons; then true republicans would rejoice, as did Washington, for the dethronement of the Bourbons, instead of rejoicing for their ascension and our destruction. Read Washington's address to the French republic, and see how he rejoiced. Ask every honest republican, would they rejoice, could Bonaparte possibly enslave the old world, more than it is now enslaved. But Europe is free, sure enough! kings are free in the civil liberty

of the social few, to oppress the rest of mankind as they please; yes, kings feel safe on their throne, that Columbian truth cannot endanger them. With no other

kings than the people, oh deluders blush when exposed, and shamed before the angel of Washington; read his answer to Adet, who rejoiced to see republicans rise in France, and the Bourbons go down, notwithstanding the guillotine. When Europe is free, Washingtons rejoice; but if kings are free, we hear the devil's

noise.

How can it be, that the Americans are under the French influence of Bonaparte, since they by his fall, grown stronger and stronger; they cannot rejoice for the success of kings, and the fall of French democracy; Bonaparte or no Bonaparte. No, but democracy is always independent. Was Washington under French influence, because he rejoiced for the downfal of the Bourbons, and the rising vengeance of French democracy? would not Washington have rejoiced, to see the democratical rights of all Europe restored, as he restored ours, and rejoiced to behold Frenchmen unfurl the banners of freedom? how independent was Washington's mind? how does Washington rejoice, who

says,

"My anxious recollections, my sympathetic feelings and my best wishes are irresistably excited, whensoever in any country, I see an oppressed nation unfurl the banners of freedom; but above all, the events of the French revolution, have produced the deepest solicitude, as well as the highest admiration. To call your nation brave, were to pronounce but common praise. Wonderful people! Ages to come, will read with astonishment, the history of your brilliant exploits."

For this good will to mankind and hatred to kings, was Washington under French influence, any more for his wishing success to the democracy of Europe, in conquering their tyrant kingly oppression; than for wishing success to general Montgomery, and the American democracy, in expelling the strong holds and garrisons of British oppression, for our freedom? What else is foreign influence, than aristocrats linking arms with

the king's commerce, and broils of European ambition, rivalship, interest, humour or caprice? from which foreign commerce of entangling knots of robbers, was an aristocrat ever independent in mind and honest right? who else can rejoice for the success of kings, than such as wish to be kings themselves, or the fat servants of foreign kings, for their sake, to make slaves of the people? who else can rejoice for British success, than such as expect permanent offices, under their legitimate George the King, to keep them high and mighty royal masters forever, and their children after them, royal and hereditary masters of the new world, over the democrats, who mourn instead of rejoicing for kings? how are kings and kings servants, put upon the throne, but by the assistance of the sword and delusion of other kings, of foreign arm locking secrecy, in the midst and on the ruin of a troubled and embarrassed people; who by their personal alliance of the aristocracy of the nations, were kicked into war by their deception, making permanent that alliance. Who then throw all the blame on the very democracy of the people, pretending they made the war; yet continue that same calamity, which they aristocrats themselves made, by the same delusion with which they begun it. Then bellow cut peace, peace, that they themselves will appear to fools, to be the peace makers and democrats makers of war, for increasing the delusion, until themselves get popular on the extreme delusion and ruin of the people; who at last are caught the prey of devils, for not maintaining their personal, consequently their national independence, from European entanglement.

But what did Britain and her entangling tories of our country and allies of Europe, reinstate the BourBons and kings of the east, upon their hereditary thrones, after they had dethroned Bonaparte, when they had the power, if they are the givers of freedom? But Britain is no giver of freedom, our revolution and her own slaves know better, but she is the enforcer of oppression and slavery. She only hypocritically pretends to freedom through the agency of her deluding tories. among us in the grass, for the purpose of making us
