ORDERD the like to Francis Child, or order the Sum of No £63: 12:4, in full of his two accounts, for Victualling Sundry 2798 Criminals and for other Expences Attending the New Goal from the 21st of March last to the 21st of September following, as Pr his said two accounts, Audited by the Committee, Sworn to, and allowed of by this board.

WHEREAS it appears to this board, that large Sums of money are due, and in arrear to the Corporation, from a number of persons for Rents Reserved on Grants, Leases (and otherwise) which have been from time to time Issued to them; and WHEREAS this board have lately been put to great Expence in making Sundry Improvements in different parts of this City, and Very Considerable Sums being now due and owing by them on account thereof; It is therefore ORDER'D by this board, that publick notice be given, by publishing this order in one or more of the News papers of this City, that unless Such Arrears of Rent be paid to the Chamberlain [435] of this Corporation on or before the first day of January next, this board will direct all those who shall appear to be in arrear that day to be prosecuted for the Same without distinction

Upon application of John Lamb an ancient Cartman of this City, to be appointed to the Office of an Inspector of firewood for the Coenties Slip, ORDERD by this board that he be appointed to the said office and place accordingly

Colles) ORDERD the like to Davis Hunt or order the Sum of £2 10 for his trouble and Care of the fire engine in the Outward from the 1st of August 1773 to the 1st of Aug! 1774 as his Account, Sworn to and allowed of by this board.

ORDERD that the assize of bread be till further order flour at 20/ C

A white loaf of the finest flour to weigh......1:82oz for 4 Coppers. And further ORDERD that no other bread be made for Sale within this City, than according to the above assize (hard bisquits only Excepted) and that all bakers within the Same, take Notice thereof, and make their bread accordingly

[437] Peter Garson Compass maker, was Sworn a freeman of this Corporation and ORDERD to be Registred.

ORDERED that Aldm Mathews and Mr Hamersly be added to the Committee appointed the 30th of March last to Enquire into the Number of measurers there was at that time, and to fix upon Such Regulations, respecting the measuring of wheat and other Grain brought to

this City for sale as they Should Conceive necessary. Also ORDERD that Aldm Waddle be appointed Chairman of said Committee

ORDERD by this board, that one of the Citys Surveyors do Cause a Survey of the water Lots prayed for by James De Lancey Esq to be made to begin from the Water and Soil lately Granted by this Corporation to Hendrick Rutgers & to extend Easterly as farr as the Right of this Corporation

WHEREAS this Board did formerly Lease to Jacobus Van Zandt, Lawrence Reade & Sundry others, Some of them Common Lands on Inklawnbergh, for the Term of 21 years, under a certain rent and under Sundry Covenants by them to be performed, and WHEREAS Some of the said Lessees, to witt, the said Jacobus Van Zandt, Samuel Farmer, Philip Kissick, Obadiah Wells, Theophilus Anthony, John Lawrence and Robert Murray, did afterwards prepare a petition to this board, and Informed, that the Rent reserved in Such Leases, [438] to them was Greatly above the Annual Value of the Land, the Quality thereof being Very bad, and unfit for Cultivation; that they had laid out Considerable Sums of money in Cultivating and Improving the Same, without any profit arising therefrom; and prayed that this board would take the same into their Consideration and mittigate the one half of the then present rent from the date of their respective Leases to the 1st of May then next ensuing, on their paying the Same at that time, to the Treasurer or Chamberlain of this Corporation, with the priviledge of having their Leases renewed, and the Term Enlarged for 35 years from the said first day May then next ensuing, they to pay the Taxes and impositions with which the premisses Should thereafter be Chargeable during the Continuance of said Term, which application this board agreed to, and ORDERD Leases accordingly, and WHEREAS the said Lawrence Reade hath lately died without ever having made any application in his lifetime for an abatement of the rent reserved in his Lease or for an Enlargement of the Term, And WHEREAS Joseph Reade, one of the Ex of the said Lawrence Reade, now. makes application to this board to have the aforesaid Lease Renewed to him & the other Ex's upon the Same Terms & Conditions as this Board gave Leases to the said Jacobus Van Zandt & others for, [439] which application being taken into Consideration by this board, they did thereupon agree & ORDER, that the same be Leased to them accordingly, & that the Clerk prepare a Lease to them for the Term of 32 years, to Commence on the 1st of May last, upon the Same Conditions and Rent as this board Executed Leases to the said Jacobus Van

Zandt & others for, and that the Same be delivered to the said ExTS on their executing a Counterpart thereof, to the use of this Corporation.

THE PETITION of David Burger of said City Joiner, was preferred to this board, and read, praying thereon to be appointed one of the publick measurers of this City. ORDERD that the Consideration thereof, be deferred to Some future Common Council
