The Theological Faculty report that Jesse D. Fonda, of the Junior Class, has left the institution, professedly on account of ill health. The Faculty also report that the number of students for the past year has been somewhat less than on some previous years; and they bear their usual good testimony to the Christian deportment of the students.

The following young gentlemen presented the usual testimonials from their respective Classes, and, after due examination, were recommended to receive the patronage of the Church from the education funds, viz. : James H. Ballagh, Alvan Ostrom, George H. Peck, John A. Debaun, John H. Suydam, John G. Low, George W. Knieskern, Isaac Collier, and Albert V. Gulick.

The students of the several classes were examined by the Professors in the various studies pursued in the institution, (excepting those in Rev. Dr. Cannon's department, excused by reason of his protracted indisposition.) The Senior Class was also examined on the evidences of personal piety and their views in entering the ministry, and exhibited specimens of sermonizing and preaching. In view of which, it was unanimously

Resolved, That the examination be sustained, and that the members of the Senior Class be recommended to the Professors for the usual certificate.

The seats of the following members will become vacant at the time of the next meeting of the General Synod:

the review of the year, the Board take peculiar pleasure to bear their unequivocal testimony to the eminent ability and thoroughness of the Theological Professors. And in view of the fact, that the Professor elect has signified his acceptance of the appointment of the General Synod to the vacant professorship, together with the pleasant prospect of

a considerable accession of students at the opening of the next theological year, the Board would congratulate the General Synod upon the manifest and continued favor of the Great Head of the Church towards this sacred institution. This congratulation is not unmingled, however, with a deep and cherished sympathy for the aged and venerable Professor, whose praise is in all the churches, and whose earthly career seems drawing near its close.
