CORRESPONDENCE.

143

The Rev. John F. Mesick, of the German Reformed Church, appeared in Synod, and having produced testimonials of his appointment, took his seat as a corresponding delegate from the Synod of the German Reformed Church. On taking his seat the delegate laid on the table of Synod twelve copies of the Minutes of the last session of the German Reformed Synod.

The Rev. Allan D. Campbell, D.D., of the Presbyterian Church, appeared in Synod, and having produced testimonials of his appointment, took his seat as a corresponding delegate from the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in the United States.

The delegate from the General Assembly presented the following certified abstract from the Minutes of the Assembly at their late session, containing their action in relation to the transferring of churches from one denomination to the other, (see p. 39,) which was referred to the Committee on Correspondence:

"Dr. Stockton, from the Committee on the Minutes of the General Synod of the Reformed Dutch Church, presented the following resolution, which was adopted, viz. :

rule."

The above is an accurate transcript from the Minutes of the General Assembly, Wednesday morning, May 21, 1851.

ALEX. T. M'GILL, Permanent Clerk Gen. Assembly, &c.

A communication was received from the Presbytery of Peoria, which was referred to the Committee on Correspondence.

The Committee on Correspondence reported, and their report was accepted, adopted, and is as follows:

The Committee on Correspondence beg leave to report, that there have been put into our hands but two papers; the one a resolution of the General Assembly, respectfully and fraternally begging leave to decline its concurrence in the adoption of an absolute rule respecting the transfer of churches from one body to the other. The second, a
