OF THE GENERAL SYNOD OF THE REFORMED PROTESTANT DUTCH CHURCH IN NORTH AMERICA, CONVENED IN THE VILLAGE OF POUGHKEEPSIE, ON WEDNESDAY, THE FIFTH DAY OF June, in the YEAR OF OUR LORD ONE THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND FIFTY. THE SESSION CONTINUED FROM THE FIFTH TO THE ELEVENTH DAY OF JUNE, INCLUSIVE.

FORMATION OF SYNOD.

ARTICLE 1.

OPENING OF SYNOD.

The Synod was opened with prayer by the Rev. Jacob Van Vechten, D. D., the President of General Synod at its extra session held in the month of August last; who preached a sermon on the evening of the first day of the session, from Matt. iv. 1-11: "Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards an hungered," &c.
