DEDUCTIONS FROM TABLE NO. 3. In gathering the statistics contained in this table, care was taken as to accuracy and thoroughness, the canvassers selected being instructed to be diligent and careful in their work. It was intended to gather information from every county in the State, but owing to the sparsely settled condition of some of the counties and the failure of certain canvassers to do their work, a few important places were unintentionally omitted. Enough territory was canvassed to give a good idea of the condition of this class of labor. The following are the counties from which schedules were received, with the number from each: |
