THIS month, which is full of the memory of the martyr-king, we think an appropriate time for the following beautiful verses, from 'Fawkes's Poetical Calendar,' there said to be from King Charles's own pen. My motive in offering these papers, is to induce the members of the Church to emulate the zeal expressed in the 48th Psalm, and 'walk about Zion, go round about her, and tell the towers thereof. Mark well her bulwarks, set up her houses, that ye may tell them that come after; for this God is our God, for ever and ever, and He will be our guide unto death.' If in Christ Jesus dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, and if His own Word declares that His Body is the Church, the Spirit which abides in this Body must be that of Eternal Truth; so that on entering its hallowed enclosures, you should bear in mind that a greater than the temple is within.'
