Lesson 67.

The Jews therefore perfecuted JESUS because He did thefe things on the Sabbath. But JESUS answered them, My Father works hitherto, and I work. Thereupon the Jews fought the more to kill Him; because He not only had broken the Sabbath, but faid alfo that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God. Then anfwered JESUS and faid, verily, verily, I fay to you, The Son can do nothing of Himself, but What He fees the Father doing: for, what things foever He does, thefe alfo does the Son likewife. For, the Father loves the Son, and fhews Him all things that Himfelf does: and He will fhew Him greater works then these, that you may marvail. For, as the Father raises up the dead, and quickens them, even fo the Son quickens whom He will. For, the Father judges none, but has committed all judgment to the Son: that all hould honour the Son, even as they ho

He that honours n the Son honours not the Father who fe Him. Verily verily I fay to you, I that hears My word, and believes Him that fent Me, has everlasting Li and fhall not come into condemnation but is paffed from death to life. Veril verily, I fay to you, the hour comes a now is, when the dead fhall hear t voice of the Son of God; and they th hear fhall live. For, as the Father h life in Himself, fo has He given to t Son to have life in Himfelf: and b given Him authority to execute jude ment alfo, because He is the Son of Man. Marvail not at this; for the hou is coming when all that are in the grav fhall hear His voice; and fhall com forth: they that have done Good, toth Refurrection of Life; and they tha have done Evil, to the Refurrection o Damnation. I cannot of My felf d any thing; as I hear I judge and M judgment is juft; because I feck not M own Will, but the Will of the Father who fent Me.

calumniate innocence! Thou bealeft their Difeafes, and they perfecute Thee as a Sabbath-breaker Thou teacheft them Thy Heavenly Mysteries, and they feek to kill Thee as a Blafphemer. Pardon us, O JESU! and by Thy Grace dif pofe our hearts firmly to believe Thy fubOlime Truths, and humbly imitate Thy unwearyed patience. Thon art the Eterhernal Son of God, and Heaven and Earth the were made by Thy Power: Thou art the infalible fudge of the World; and Life and Death depend on Thy Sentence.

th If Ibear witnefs of My felf, My witenefs is not true; there is another that all gives teftimony of Me; and I know the teftimony He gives of Me is true. You ent to Jobn, and he bare witness to the ruth: But, I receive not teftimony from fman; but these things I fay that you may be faved. He was a burning and thining light; and you were willing for Fafeafon to rejoyce in His Light. But, Thave greater witness then that of John: for, the works which My Father has Ben Me to finish, the very works I do,

bear wituels of Me, that the Father f Me. And, the Father Himself who fe Me has born witness of Me. You ha neither heard His Voice at any time, n feen His fhape: And you have not H Word abiding in you; for whom He ha fent, Him you believe not. Search th Scriptures; for, in them you think have Eternal Life; and the fame are the which teftifie of Me: And you will come to Me, that you may have Lif I receive not honour from Men: But, know you, that you have not the lov of God in you. I am come in My Fa thers Name, and you receive me. not: if another fhall come in his own name, hin you will receive. How can you believe who receive honour one of another; and the honour which is of God only you feek not? Do not think I will accufe you to the Father: there is one that accufe you, Mofes, in whom you truft. For had you believed Mofes, you would have believed Me: for, He wrote of Me. But, if you believe not his Writings, how fhall you believe My words? Refp. All things bear witness to Thee, O Thon Glorious Saviour of the World!
