JESUS therefore faid to them, Yet a little while I am with you, and then I go to Him that fent Me. You shall seek Me and shall not find Me; and where I am thither you cannot come. Then faid the Jews among themfelves, Whither will He go, that we fhall not find Him? Will He go to the difpers'd among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles? And, in the last, the great day of the Fraft, JESUS ftood and cry'd aloud, faying, If any man thirst, let him come to Me and drink. He that believes in Me, as the Scripture fays, out of his Belly fhall flow Rivers of Living Water. (But, this fpake he of the Spirit, which they that believe in Him fhould receive : for the H. Ghoft was not yet given, becaufe JESUS was not yet glorifi'd) Many of the people therefore, when they heard thefe words of His, faid, This is indeed the Prophet: others faid, This. is the Christ. But fome faid, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Does not the Scripture fay that Cbrift comes of the Seed of David, and out of the Town of Bethlehem, where David was? So, there grew a diffenfion among the people, bccaufe of Him. And forne of them would

have apprehended Him, but no Man laid hands on Him. Then came the Officers to the Chief Priests and Pharifees and They faid to them, Why have you not brought Him? The Officers answered, Never Man pake liket his Man. Then anfwered the Pharifees

Pharifees, Are you also deceiv'd? Have any of the Rulers or of the Pharifees believ'd in Him? But, this people, who know not the Law, are curfcd. Nicodemus faid to them, (he that came to JESUS by night, who was one of them) Does our Law judge any Man, before it hear him and know what he does? They answered and said to him, Art thou allo a Galilean? Search the Scripture, and and fee that Out of Galilee arifes no Prephet. And, every one return'd to his own house.

Refp. Deliver us O Lord, from all rude contempt of Others, and all arrogant conceit of our felves: Deliver us from that blind injuftice, of abufing Reafon to gratifie Paffion, and from that bold prophanefs of wrefting the Scriptures to de fend our Errors. Thou art. Thou art indeed the Prophet, and never Man pake like Thee, Thou art the Chrift, and never Man did like Thee. Send down thy H. Spirit, 0 Glorified. JESU! that our Souls may thirst after Thee, and drink so long of Thy Heavenly fweetness, till the streams gather here be ready to break forth and flow into Rivers of Living Water. *Tho

And JESUS went to the MountOlivet and carly in the Morning came again into the Temple; and all the people reforted to Him, and He fat down and taught them. And the Scribes and Pharifees brought toHim a Woman taken in Adultery, and fet her in the midft; and faid to Him,Mafter, this Woman was even now taken in Adultery, and Mofes in the Law commanded us to ftone fuch: What therefore fay'ft Thou! This they faid, tempting Him that they might accufe Him. But, JESUS, bowing Himself, with His Finger wrote on the Earth. When they therefore, continu'd asking Him, He lifted up Himfelf & faid to them, He that is without fin among you let him first throw a ftone at her. And again, bowing Himfelf, He wrote on the Earth. And they, hearing it, went out one by one, beginning at the Seniors:and JESUS remain'd alone, and the Woman ftanding in the midft. Then JESUS lifting up Himself faid to her,Woman, where are they that accus'd thee?has none condemn'd thee? Who said, None, Lord! And JESUS faid,Neither will I condemn thee; go, and now fin no more. Refp. Blind and uncharitable self-love! why fo maliciously seek the shame of 0thers, while our selves should blush at our own follies? why fo tenaciously press fer feverity against Them, while our own Souls are in the fame condemnation? *JESUS alone is the fudge of mercy; who, if we repent, will graciously for give Us, and, if we fin no more, glorionfly fave Us. When He turns away His Eyes, 'tis to forbear our punishment, and expect our amendment; when He Looks on us again, 'tis to comfort our fears, and abfolve our fins. * * JESUS

Then fpake JESUs again to them, faying, I am the Light of the World; he that follows Me walks not in darknefs, but fhall have the Light of Life. The Pharifecs therefore said to Him, Thou giv't Teftimony of Thy felfi thy Teftimony is not true. JESUS anfwer'd and faid to Him, Though I give Teftimony of my felf, yet my Teftimony is true; for, I know whence I came and whither I go; but you cannot tell whence I come, or whither I You go.
