XVI. And be it further enacted, That the feveral Rules, Regu lations, Reftrictions, Powers, Provifions, Claufes, Matters, and Things contained in any Act or Acts in force in Ireland at or immediately before the paffing of this Act, whether relating to the Importation or Exportation of any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize, or to the Duties payable on the Importation thereof, or to the collecting or fecuring thofe Duties, or to the permitting any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize to be warehoused without Payment of Duties, and which are not exprefsly repealed, revoked, altered or controuled by this prefent Act, fhall be and remain and continue in as full Force and Effect as if this Act had not been made; any Thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding: Provided always, that fuch Goods as may be warehoused by virtue of any Act in force in Ireland immediately before the paffing of this Act with refpect to fuch Goods, may continue to be warehoufed under the Provifions of fuch Acts; any Thing in this Act contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

XVII. And be it further enacted, that no Holidays whatever fhall be permitted or allowed to be kept by any Officer of His Majefty's Customs in Ireland, for or in refpect of any Act, Matter, or Things to be done by any fuch Officer in pursuance of this Act, and for the carrying the fame into Execution, except Sundays, Chrift mas Day, and Good Friday, and any Days which fhall be appointed by Proclamation for a General Faft or Thanksgiving, and alfo the Anniversaries of the Reftoration of King Charles the Second, and of the Coronation of His Majefty, and the Birthdays of Their Majefties and of His Royal Highnefs the Prince of Wales; but that all Business relating to His Majefty's Revenue fhall be carried on under this Act upon all Holidays, except as before excepted, in the fame Manner as upon other Days in the Year; any Law, Custom, or Ufage to the contrary notwithstanding.

XVIII. And be it further enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful for the Importer or Proprietor of any fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize at any Time in the Prefence of the proper Officer to take a Sample thereof: Provided always, that out of each Cafk of any Kind of Spirits or Wine not more than Half a Pint, and out of every Cafk or other Package of Coffee or Cocoa Nuts not more than Two Ounces fhall be taken: Provided alfo, that no more than Two Samples fhall be taken out of the fame Cafk or Package, fave and except where the former Sample fhall have been returned.

XIX. And be it further enacted, That every Importer or Proprietor who may have Occafion or be defirous to infpect or examine any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize to him belonging, which shall have been warehoused under this Act, fhall, upon giving Four Hours Notice in Writing to the proper Officer of Customs, be permitted by fuch Officer with the Concurrence and in the Prefence of fuch Officer, to enter into and remain in fuch Warehouse or Warehouses fo long as fhall be neceffary, during the legal Hours of Bufinefs, for the Purpose of infpecting or examining fuch Goods, Wares, or Merchandize, or for making such lawful Alterations therein or Arrangements thereof as may be neceffary either for the Prefervation and Security thereof, or in order to the Sale or legal Difpofal of the fame respectively: Provided always, that no fuch Alterations or Arrangements fhall be made which may in any refpect tend to leffen His Majefty's Duties or to impede or obftruct or otherwife embar

rafs the Officers in taking and keeping a true Account thereof; and that the Entry and Continuance of every fuch Importer and Proprietor into fuch Warehouses, and the Infpection and Examination of fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize, fhall be fubject to and governed by fuch Rules, Regulations, and Reftrictions in all Refpects as the Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties fhall from Time to Time make, order, and direct, with refpect to fuch Entry, Continuance, Examination, and Infpection, or any of them.

XX. And be it further enacted, That all and every the Fines, Penalties, and Forfeitures inflicted by this Act fhall be paid and recovered in British Currency, and fhall and may be fued for and recovered, levied and applied in fuch Manner and Form, and by such Ways and Means, and with fuch Powers and Authorities as are prescribed, directed, and appointed in and by an Act of Parliament made in Ireland in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign

ment, the Exportation of Jesuits' Bark from Great Britain.

W Exportation of Jefuits' Bark from Great Britain, except in

WHEREAS it is expedient to prohibit for a limited Time the

the Manner herein-after mentioned ;' be it therefore enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the paffing of this Act, no Person or Persons whatever fhall, directly or indirectly, export, carry, or convey, or cause or procure to be exported, carried, or conveyed, out of or from any Port or Place in Great Britain, or fhall load or lay on board, or caufe or procure to be laden or laid on board in any Ship or other Veffel or Boat, any Jefuits' Bark, in order to be carried, exported, or conveyed out of any fuch Port or Place, except to Ireland, and alfo except as herein-after is provided.

II. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful for His Majefty by any Licence under his Royal Sign Manual to authorize any Perfon to export from Great Britain for his or

their own Account, or for Account of any Subject or Subjects of
any State in Amity with His Majefty, any Jefuits' Bark, under
fuch Regulations, Restrictions, and Securities as may be specified in
the faid Licence.

"Exportation may be allowed for the Supply of the Army and
"Navy. 3; and for the Ufe of Crews of Ships. § 4. Bark

An Act to prohibit, until the End of the next Seffion of Parliament, the Exportation of Cotto Wool from Great Britain. [14th April 1808. "Cotton Wool fhall not be exported, except to Ireland, or under "the Provifions of this Act. § 1. His Majefty may allow Ex"portation to States in Amity. 2. Cotton Wool exported contrary to this Act shall be forfeited: with a Penalty of 40s. per lb. weight, and the Veffel, &c. § 3. [See § 1, 2, 3 of 48 G. 3. c. 29. " & c. 33 ]"

IV. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act contained fhall extend to prevent any Cotton Wool being carried Coaftwife, upon any Certificate which fhall be directed to be given by the Commiffioners of the Cuftoms in that Behalf.

WE, Your Majefty's most dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Com

mons of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ire'land in Parliament affembled, towards raifing the neceffary Supplies 'to defray Your Majefty's Publick Expences, have freely and volun'tarily refolved to give and grant unto your Majefty, a Duty upon 'Cotton Wool of the Growth or Produce of any of His Majefty's 'Colonies, Settlements, or Plantations, exported from Great Britain; ' and do therefore most humbly befeech Your Majefty that it may 'be enacted; and be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Ma

"Said Duty fhall be managed as other Duties of Cuftoms. § 2. Said "Duty fhall be under the Management of the Commiffioners of Cuf"toms. 3. And fhall be paid into the Exchequer. § 4. An Act for making valid certain Orders in Council, and Warrants of the Commiffioners of the Treafury, for the Entry and Warehoufing of certain Goods imported in Neutral Veffels, and for indemnifying all Perfons concerned therein; for the remitting of Forfeitures in certain Cafes; and for enabling His Majefty to allow, during the Continuance of Hoftilities, and until Two Months after the Commencement of the next Seffion of Parliament, the Importation of Goods from Countries from which the British Flag is excluded, in any Veffels whatever. Continent of Europe from which the British Flag has been excluded, have arrived in the Ports of the United Kingdom, having been warned or brought into fuch Ports in confequence of His Majefty's Orders in Council for that Purpose, and Parts of the Cargoes of fuch Veffels have been admitted to Entry for Home Confumption, or warehoufed for Exportation; and other Parts of fuch Cargoes, confifting of Goods the Growth, Produce, or Manufacture of Countries within the Limits of the Charter granted to the United Company of Merchants of England trading to the Eaft Indies, not imported by the faid Company, have been warehoufed for Exportation only: And whereas in confequence of the late Events in Portugal, Wine and other Commodities have been
