A.D. 1808. Company of Merchants of England trading to the East Indies, fhall be permitted or allowed to be carried to or imported into or • landed in Ireland, but fuch only as fhall be laden and fhipped at the 'Port of London in British or Irish Ships: And whereas it may happen that Goods, Wares, and Merchandize, the Growth, Pro duct, or Manufacture of the Countries and Places aforefaid, may arrive at fome Port or Place in Ireland, in pursuance or in confe quence of certain Orders in Council relative to Trade and Navigation; and it is expedient that Provifion fhould be made refpecting the fame ;' be it therefore enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That in cafe the Whole or any Part of the Cargo of any Veffel which shall arrive in any Port of Ireland, in purfuance or in confequence of any Order of His Majefly in Council, or of any Order by the Lord Lieutenant or other Chief Governor or Governors and the Privy Council of Ireland, fhall confift of any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize whatever, of the Growth, Product, or Manufacture of any Country or Place within the Limits of the Charter granted to the United Company of Merchants of England trading to the East Indies, fuch Veffel fhall forthwith be permitted to proceed and fhall proceed to the Port of London, and the faid Ship or Veffel, and the faid Goods, Wares, and Merchandize fhall be there dealt with according to Law; and fuch Ship or Veffel, or the Goods, Tackle or Furniture of the fame, or any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize laden therein, fhall not be fubject or liable to any Penalty or Forfeiture under the faid recited Act of the Thirty-third Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign, on account of having come into fuch Port contrary to any of the Provifions in the faid recited Act contained; any Thing in the faid recited Act to the contrary notwithstanding.

II. Provided always, and be it enacted, That if it fhall appear to the Satisfaction of the Collector, Comptroller, or other proper Officer of any Port in Ireland, by the Report of any Veffel which fhall arrive at fuch Port with any Cargo, Part whereof fhall confift of Goods, Wares, or Merchandize of the Growth, Product, or Manufacture of any Country or Place within the Limits of the Charter granted to the faid United Company of Merchants of England trading to the East Indies, that fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize do not exceed in Vale, One-fourth Part of the whole Value of the Cargo of fuch Veffel, then and in fuch Cafe it fhall be lawful for the Owner, Confignee, or Captain of fuch Veffel, after giving fuch Security as fhall be directed by the Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties in Ireland or any Four of them, for the due Conveyance of fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize as aforefaid to the Port of London, to land the Cargo of fuch Veffel, at the Port of her Arrival, except fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize of the Growth, Product, or Manufacture aforefaid, and either to caufe fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize to be conveyed in the fame Ship to the Port of London, or to cause the fame to be transfhipped in order to be conveyed to the faid Port, upon the faid Security and under fuch Regulations and Restrictions for fecuring the conveying the fame to the faid Port as fhall be directed by the faid Commiflioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties; any Thing in the

faid recited Act of the Thirty-third Year of His prefent Majesty's
Reign to the contrary thereof in any wife notwithstanding.
III. And be it further enacted, That Goods, Wares, and Mer-
chandize, the Growth, Product, or Manufacture of the Countries
or Ports within the Limits of the exclufive Trade of the faid
Company, which fhall have been imported into Ireland from Great
Britain according to Law, fhall and may be exported from Ireland
to any Port or Place whatsoever, without the Payment of any Duty
on the Exportation thereof; any Thing in any Act or Acts in force
in Ireland at the Time of fuch Exportation to the contrary thereof
in anywife notwithstanding.

An Act to extend the Provifions of an Act, made in the For-
ty-fifth Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign for preventing
the counterfeiting of certain Silver Tokens, to certain other
Tokens, which may be iffued by the Governor and Company
of the Bank of Ireland, and to promote the Circulation of
the faid last mentioned Tokens.

Goods duly imported into Ireland from Great Britain, may be exported without Duty on Exportation.

WHEREAS by an Act, made in the Forty-fifth Year of His 45 G. 3. c. 12, W prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled, An Act to extend the Provifions of an A& made in the laft Seffion of Parliament, for preventing the counterfeiting of certain Silver Coin iffued by the Banks of England and Ireland refpectively, to Silver Pieces which may be iffued by the 'Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland called Tokens, and to promote the Circulation of the faid Tokens, certain pains of Felony, and other Pains and Penalties, were impofed on any Perfon or Per'fons who fhould make, coin, or counterfeit, or caufe or procure to 'be made, coined, or counterfeited, or act or affift in the making, 'coining, or counterfeiting the Tokens in the faid Acts mentioned, 'or who fhould bring into Ireland or into any Part of the United Kingdom, or fhould pass, or utter, or tender in Payment, or give in Exchange, or pay or put off any fuch counterfeit Token or 'Tokens, or fhould have in his, her, or their Cuftody, without lawful Excufe, any greater Number than Five of fuch falfe or 'counterfeit Tokens: And whereas the Governor and Company of 'the Bank of Ireland are preparing and intend to iffue in Ireland, 'for the Convenience of the Publick, a Quantity of Silver Pieces denominated Tokens, of the common Standard of Spanish Pillar 'Dollars, containing on the obverfe Side thereof an Impreffion of His Majefty's Head, and the following Words and Figures, Georgius III. Dei Gratia Rex 1808 ;" and on the reverfe Side 'thereof an Impreffion reprefenting Hibernia, with the Words or Figures "Bank Token, XXX Pence Irifb," each fuch Token con'taining in Weight Six-thirteenth Parts of the Common Weight of a Spanish Pillar Dollar: And whereas Tokens for Ten-pence and Five-pence have been iffued by the "Governor and Company of the faid Bank of Ireland conformably to the Defcriptions in 'the faid recited Act with the Variation only of the Figures 1806 inftead of 1805' Be it enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament

affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after the paffing of this A&t if any Perfon or Perfons fhall make, coin, or counterfeit, or caufe or procure to be made, coined, or counterfeited, Bank of Ireland, or willingly aid or affift in the making, coining, or counterfeiting, any Piece of Metal resembling, or made with Intent to resemble or look like the faid Tokens for Thirty-pence Irish, so as aforefaid intended to be iffued by the faid Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland, or the faid Tokens for Ten-pence and Five-pence with the Figures 1806, or to pafs as fuch, or to resemble or look like any of the faid Tokens, or to pafs as fuch; or if any Perfon or Perfons fhall bring into Ireland, or into any Part of the United Kingdom, any fuch falfe or counterfeit Tokens, knowing the fame to be falfe or counterfeited, to the Intent to utter the fame, within the faid United Kingdom, or within any Dominions of the fame, or if any Perfon or Perfons fhall utter or tender in Payment, or give in Exchange, or pay or put off to any Perfon or Perfons any fuch false or counterfeited Token or Tokens knowing the fame to be falfe or counterfeited; or if any Person or Perfons fhall have in his, her, or their Cuftody or Poffeffion, without lawful Excufe, (the Proof whereof fhall lie on the Party accused,) any greater Number than Five of any fuch falfe or counterfeited Tokens; then and in any or either of the faid Cafes refpectively, every fuch Perfon shall be subjec and liable to fuch and the like Pains of Felony, and other Pains and Punishments respectively, and to fuch and the like Penalties and Forfeitures refpectively, and shall be punished, proceeded against, and dealt with in fuch and the like manner refpectively, as is mentioned and directed in and by the faid recited Act of the Forty-fifth Year of His Majefty's Reign, as to Perfons convicted of the like Offence refpectively under the faid recited Act in regard to the Tokens in the faid recited Act mentioned, and as if the faid Tokens for Thirtypence in this Act mentioned, and the faid Tokens for Ten-pence and Five-pence with the Figures 1806 thereon respectively, had been mentioned and particularized in the faid recited Act.

II. And be it further enacted, That all the Powers, Provifions, Regulations, and Directions, Claufes, Matters, and Things in the faid recited Act of the Forty-fifth Year of His prefent Majefty's Reign mentioned and contained, or referred to with respect to the making, coining, counterfeiting, bringing in, uttering, tendering, giving in Exchange, paying, putting off, or poffeffing any counterfeit Token as in the faid Act is mentioned, fhall and may be applied in the apprehending, fecuring, proceeding againft, and punishing of Offenders under this Act, and in the Recovery of Penalties and Forfeitures for Offences against this Act, and in the carrying this A&t into Execution, and in relation to the faid Tokens for Thirty-pence and the faid Tokens for Ten-pence and Five-pence with the Figures 1806 thereon, in all refpects whatsoever, as fully and effectually to all Intents and Purpofes, as if the faid Powers, Provifions, Regulations, and Directions, Claufes, Matters, and Things, were repeated and re-enacted in this A&t.

III. And be it further enacted, That all Sums of Money which now are or fhall become payable in Ireland for any Part of the Pub. be taken in Pay- lick Revenue there, fhall be accepted by the Collectors, Receivers, and other Officers of the Revenue authorized to receive the fame, in the faid Silver Tokens for Thirty-pence each, which fhall be iffued

iffued during the Continuance of the Restriction on Payments in Cafh by the Governor and Company of the Bank of Ireland, if offered fo to be paid; and that the faid Governor and Company may, whenever the faid Restriction fhall be removed, charge to the Account of the Teller of the Exchequer all fuch of the faid Tokens of Thirty-pence each, iffued during the Continuance of the faid Reftriction, as may be received by the faid Governor and Company in Payment or otherwife before or after fuch Removal.

chandize were permitted to be entered and landed and properly fe-
'cured in the Port of Dublin, and in certain other Ports in Ireland,
'without Payment, at the Time of the First Entry of fuch Goods,
Wares and Merchandize, of the Duties due on the Importation
'thereof, under fuch Conditions, Regulations, and Restrictions as
' are hereinafter provided; may it therefore please Your Majefty that
'it may be enacted;' and be it enacted by the King's moft Excel-
lent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords
Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament
affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That from and after
the paffing of this Act it fhall be lawful for the Importer or Im-
porters, Proprietor or Proprietors, Confignee or Confignees of any
of the Goods, Wares, or Merchandize enumerated and defcribed in
the Schedule hereunto annexed, marked (A.) and which fhall be le-
gally imported and brought into the Port of Dublin, or into any Port
in Ireland into which Tobacco may by Law be imported, to lodge
and fecure the fame in His Majefty's Warehouses, or in any
houfe or Warehouses fituated in the faid Port of Dublin, or in any
fuch Port as aforefaid, under the joint Locks of the Crown and
the Merchants, without Payment, at the Time of the First Entry
of fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize, of the Duties due on the
Importation thereof; fubject nevertheless to the Rules, Regulations
and Reftrictions directed by this Act: Provided always, that the
Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties in Ireland, or any Four
or more of them, fhall firft certify under their Hands to the Lord
High Treasurer or Commiffioners of the Treafury of Ireland, for
the Time being, the Number and Situation of fuch Warehouses, and
that in their Judgment they are in every refpect fit and proper for
the Reception of such Goods, Wares, and Merchandize, wherein the
fame may be fafely and fecurely depofited.

And whereas from the Bulk of certain Articles, or from 'other Circumstances, fuch Articles cannot be conveniently lodged 'and fecured in Warehouses ;' be it therefore enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful for the Importer or Importers, Proprietor or Proprietors, Confignee or Confignees of any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize enumerated or defcribed in the Table hereunto annexed,

A.D. 1808. marked (B.) which fhall be legally imported or brought into the faid Port of Dublin, or into any Port in Ireland into which Tobacco may by Law be imported, to land any fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize, without Payment, at the Time of the Firft Entry thereof, of the Duties due on the Importation thereof; and fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize may be lodged or fecured at or in fuch Places, and under fuch Rules, Regulations, and Restrictions, as the faid Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties, or any Four or more of them, fhall from Time to Time order, approve, and direct.

III. Provided always, and be it enacted, That if the Lord High Treafurer of Ireland, or the Commiffioners of His Majefty's Treafury of Ireland for the Time being, or any Three or more of them, by and with the Confent and Approbation of the Lord Lieutenant or other Chief Governor or Governors of Ireland for the Time being, fhall deem it expedient that the Provifions of this Act shall be extend. ed to any Goods, Wares, and Merchandize not enumerated or defcribed in either of the Tables to this A&t annexed, and fhall caufe a Lift of fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize to be published in The Dublin Gazette, then and from thenceforth all and every the Provifions, Regulations, and Reftrictions of this Act shall extend or be conftrued to extend to fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize in every respect, in as full and ample a Manner as if the fame had been inferted and enumerated in the faid Tables refpectively at the Time of the paffing of this Act.

IV. Provided always, and be it enacted, that every Importer, Proprietor, or Confignee of any Goods, Wares, and Merchandize which may be landed under this Act at the Port of Dublin, or any other Port in Ireland, without Payment of Duty at the Time of the First Entry thereof, fhall enter into Bond to His Majefty, His Heirs and fucceffors, in double the Amount of the full Duties due and payable on the Importation of fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize, with Condition that fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize shall be either duly exported within the Time or Times prescribed by Law, or that the full Duties due and payable on fuch Goods, Wares, and Merchandize fhall be duly paid within the Space of Twelve Months from the Date of the First Entry of fuch Goods, or within the Time now required by Law as to fuch Goods as may be warehoused in Ireland by any Act or Acts in force at the Time of paffing of this Act; and the faid Bond fhall be fo entered into within Forty-eight Hours after the Port Surveyor and Land Waiter or other proper Officer fhall have afcertained the Quantity and Quality of Goods, Wares, and Merchandize fo to be bonded.

V. Provided alfo, and be it further enacted, that nothing in this A&t contained shall extend or be conftrued to extend to permit or allow any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize whatever to be imported into or exported from Ireland, or to be entered or landed in any Way or Manner contrary to any A&t or Acts of Parliament in force in Ireland on or immediately before the paffing of this Act.

VI. Provided alfo, and be it further enacted, That before any Goods, Wares, or Merchandize fhall be lodged in Warehouses, or fhall be regularly otherwife fecured according to the Directions of this Act, the fame fhall be entered with the proper Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms, either by a bonded Entry or by a Bill of View, and landed according to Law; and the proper Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms shall on
