An Act to prohibit, until the End of the next Seffion of Par-
liament, the Exportation of Jefuits Bark and Cotton Wool
from Ireland.
[14th April 18c8.]

WHEREAS it is expedient to prohibit for a limited Time the

Exportation of Jefuits Bark and Cotton Wool from Ire" • land except in the Manner herein-after mentioned;' be it therefore enacted by the King's moft excellent Majely, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the AuJefuits Bark and thority of the fame, That from and after the paffing of this Act, no Perfon or Perfons whatever hall, directly or indirectly, export, carry, or convey, or caufe or procure to be exported, carried, or conveyed, out of or from any Port or Place in Ireland, or fhall lade or lay on board, or caufe or procure to be laden or laid on board in any Ship or other Veffel or Boat, any Jefuits Bark or Cotton Wool in order to be carried, exported, or conveyed out of any fuch Port or Place, except to Great Britain, and also except as herein-after is provided.

II. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That it shall be lawful for the Lord Lieutenant, or other chief Governor or Governors of Ireland, with the Advice of the Privy Council of Ireland, by any Licence under his Hand, to authorize any Perfon to export from Ireland for his or their own Account, or for Account of any Subject or Subjects of any State in Amity with His Majefty,

any Jefuits Bark or Cotton Wool, under fuch Regulations, Reftric-
tions, and Securities, as may be specified in the faid Licence.
III. Provided always, and be it further enacted, That nothing
in this Act contained fhall extend to prohibit the Exportation in any
Ship or Veffel of War, belonging to His Majefty, or in any Tranf-
port Veffel in the Service, of any Jefuits Bark for the Ufe of His
Majefty's Army or Navy, under fuch Rules, Regulations, and Reftric-
tions, as the Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties in Ireland,
or any Four or more of them, may direct.

IV. Provided alfo, and be it further enacted, That it fhall be lawful for the faid Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties, or any Four or more of them, by Licence under their Hands, to permit the Exportation of Jefuits Bark for the use of the Crew or other Perfons on board of any Ship or Veffel on which the fame fhall be laden, in fuch Quantities (not exceeding One Pound Weight for every Five Men of the Crew or other Perfons on board any fuch Ship or Veffel), and under fuch Regulations as the faid Commiffioner of Customs fhall prefcribe, any Thing in this Act to the contrary notwithstanding.

V. And be it further enacted, That all Jefuits Bark and Cot. ton Wool which fhall be exported, carried, or conveyed in or laid on board any Ship or other Veffel or Boat, in order to be exported, carried, or conveyed out of Ireland, contrary to this Act, fhall be forfeited, and that every Offender therein fhall forfeit alfo the fum of Forty Shillings for every Pound Weight of fuch Jefuits Bark or Cotton Wool which fhall be fo exported, carried, or conveyed, or fo laden in or laid on board any Ship or other Veffel or Boat, in order to be exported, carried, or conveyed out of Ireland; and alfo the Ship, Veffel, or Boat, wherein the fame fhall be exported, or in or upon which the fame fhall be laden or laid in order to be exported, together with her Guns, Furniture, Ammunition, Tackle, and Apparel, fhall be forfeited, and the fame refpectively may be feized by any Officer or Officers of the Cuftoms.
