LEASES, or Tacks of Lands, &c. not belonging
to His Majefty, viz.

LEASE (or Bargain and Sale) for a Year.-See
BARGAIN and SALE.

LEASE, or Tack of any Lands, Hereditaments, or
heritable Subjects, for a Term not exceeding
Twenty-one Years, at a yearly Rent of 10l. or
lefs, and without any Fine or Graffum paid for
the fame
LEASE, or Tack of any Lands, Hereditaments,

or heritable Subjects for a Life or Lives, or for
a Term of Years determinable with a Life or
Lives, or for a Term abfolute, not exceeding
Forty Years, in confideration of a Fine or Graf-
fum paid for the fame, not exceeding Twenty
Pounds;

If the Rent referved or ftipulated fhall not ex-
ceed Forty Shillings

And if the Rent referved or ftipulated shall
exceed Forty Shillings

LEASE, or Tack of any Kind, not otherwise charged

in this Schedule
And for the Counterpart or Duplicate of any
Lease or Tack, hereby charged with a Duty
of 11. the like Duty of

And for the Counterpart or Duplicate of any
other Lease or Tack whatsoever

And where any fuch Leafe or Tack, Counter-
part, or Duplicate as aforefaid, together
with any Schedule, Receipt, or other Mat-
ter, put or indorfed thereon, or annexed
thereto, fhall contain 2160 Words or up-
wards, then for every entire Quantity of
1080 Words contained therein, over and
above the first 1080 Words, a further pro-
gressive Duty of
Exemptions from the preceding and all other
Stamp Duties.

Leafes or Tacks of wafle or uncultivated Lands,
to any poor or labouring Perfons, for any
Term not exceeding three Lives, or Ninety-
nine Years, where the Fine fhall not exceed
Five Shillings, nor the referved Rent One
Guinea per Annum; and the Counterparts
or Duplicates of all fuch Leafes.

LETTER, or Power of Attorney, made by any
Petty Officer, Seaman, Marine, or Soldier ferv-
ing as a Marine, for receiving Prize Money

if not Special LICENCE to be granted by any Archbishop, Bishop, Vicar-General, or other competent Authority, in England, for the Non-refidence of any Clergyman upon his Living, pursuant to the Act of the 43d Year of His Majefty's Reign LICENCE of any Kind, not otherwife charged in this

Schedule, which fhall pass the Seal of any Arch-
bishop, Bishop, Chancellor, or other Ordinary,

or of

any Ecclefiaftical Court, in England; or
which fhall be granted by any Prefbytery, or
other Ecclefiaftical Power, in Scotland

Exemptions from the preceding and all other
Stamp Duties.

Licences to Stipendiary Curates in England,
wherein the Annual Amount of the Stipend
fhall be specified, and Licences for the Non-
Refidence of Clergymen upon their Livings,
where granted on the Ground of there being
no Houfe or no fit House of Refidence thereon.

LICENCE to use and exercife the Calling or Oc-
cupation of an Appraiser

To be taken out, yearly, by every Person who
fhall exercise the faid Calling or Occupation,
or make any Appraisement or Valuation,
herein-before charged with a Daty, for or

MEMORIAL, to be regidered purfuant to any A&t
of Parliament, made or to be made, for the
publick regiftering of Deeds and Conveyances,
in England

And for every Piece of Vellum, Parchment, or
Paper, upon which any fuch Memorial fhall
be written, after the firit, a further progresive
Duty of
MEMORIAL, to be registered or inrolled purfuant
to Act of Parliament, of any Deed or Inftrument,
Deeds or Inftruments, whereby any Annuity fhall
be granted or fecured, in England:

And for every Piece of Vellum, Parchment, or
Paper, upon which any fuch Memorial shall
be written, after the firft, a further pro-
greffive Duty of

MORTGAGE, Conditional Surrender by way of
Mortgage, Further Charge, Wadfet, and Herit-
able Bond; Difpofition, Affignation, or Tack,
in Security; and Eik to a Reversion;
of or
affecting any Lands, Eftate, or Property, real
or perfonal, heritable or moveable whatsoever;

Alfo any Deed, containing an Obligation to
infeft any Perfon in an Annual Rent, or in Lands
or other heritable Subjects, in Scotland, under
a Claufe of Reverfion, but without any perfonal
Bond or Obligation therein contained, for Pay-
ment of the Money or Stock intended to be fe-
cured;

Alfo any Conveyance of any Lands, Eftate, or Property whatsoever, in truft to be fold or otherwife converted into Money, which fhall be intended only as a Security, and shall be redeem

able before the Sale or other Difpofal thereof, either by exprefs Stipulation or otherwife; except where fuch Conveyance fhall be made, for the Benefit of Creditors generally, or for the Benefit of Creditors Specified, who shall accept the Provifion made for Payment of their Debis, in full Satisfaction thereof, or who shall exceed five in number.

Alfo any Defeazance, Letter of Reverfion, or Back Bond, for defeating or making redeemable any Conveyance, Difpofition, Afliguation, or Tack, of any Lands, Eftate, or Property whatfoever, which fhall be apparently abfolute, but intended only as a Security;

Alfo any Agreement, Contract, or Bond, accompanied with a Depofit of Title Deeds, for making a Mortgage, Wadfet, or any fuch other Security or Conveyance as aforefaid, of any Lands, Eftate, or Property comprised in fuch Title Deeds, or for pledging or charging the fame as a Security;

And alfo any Deed, whereby a Real Burden;
fhall be declared or created on Lands or Heritable!

Security for the Payment of any definite and
certain Sum of Money, advanced or lent at
the Time, or previously due and owing, or
forborne to be paid, being payable,

MORTGAGE-continued.

If the total Amount of the Money fecured, or to be ultimately recoverable thereupon, fhall be uncertain and without any Limit

But if the total Amount of the Money fecured, or to be ultimately recoverable thereupon, fhall be limited not to exceed a given Sum

And where the fame respectively fhall be made,
as a Security for the Transfer or Re-transfer
of any Share, in any of the Government
or Parliamentary Stocks or Funds, or in
the Stock and Funds of the Governor and
Company of the Bank of England, or of the
East India Company, or of the South Sea
Company, in confideration of Stock or
Money advanced or lent at the Time, or
previously due and owing, or forborne to be
paid, being payable

And where the fame refpectively fhall be made,
as a Security for the Payment of a Sum of
Money, and alfo for the Transfer or Re-
transfer of a Share in any of the faid Stocks
or Funds; the faid ad valorem Duty fhall be
charged in refpect of each.

And in cafe the fame refpectively fhall be
made, as a Security for the Payment or
Transfer, to different Perfons, of feparate
and diftinct Sums of Money, or Shares in
any of the faid Stocks or Funds; the said
ad valorem Duty fhall be charged for and in
refpect of each feparate and diftinct Sum of
Money, or Share in any of the faid Stocks
or Funds, therein specified and fecured, and
not upon the aggregate Amount thereof.
And where any fuch Mortgage or Wadfet,
or other Inftrument hereby charged with
the fame Duty as a Mortgage or Wadset,
together with any Schedule, Receipt, or
other Matter, put or indorsed thereon, or
annexed thereto, fhall contain 2160 Words,
or upwards, then for every entire Quantity
of 1080 Words, contained therein, over and
above the first 1080 Words, a further pro-
greffive Duty of
