CXVIII. And in order to prevent all Doubts that may arife in Offences against relation to punishing Crimes and Offences committed against former former Mutiny 'Acts of Parliament made in Great Britain and Ireland respectively, Acts punithable for punifbing Mutiny and Defertion, and for the better Payment of the by this Act. Army and their Quarters, or against any of the Articles of War 'made and established by virtue of the fame ;' be it enacted by the Authority aforefaid, That all Crimes and Offences which have been committed against any Act for punishing Mutiny and Defertion, and for the better Payment of the Army and their Quarters, or against any of the Articles of War made and established by virtue of the fame, fhall and may, during the Continuance of this Act, be enquired of, heard, tried, and determined, adjudged, and punished, before and by the like Courts, Perfons, Powers, Authorities, Ways, Means, and Methods, as the like Crimes and Offences committed against this Act may be enquired of, heard, tried, determined, adjudged, and punished: And every Warrant for holding any Courtmartial under any former A&t fhall remain in full Force, notwithftanding the Expiration of fuch Act, and all Proceedings of any Court-martial upon any Trial, begun under the Authority of fuch former Act, fhall not be difcontinued by the Expiration of the fame, but it fhall be lawful to proceed to Judgment upon any fuch Trial, and to carry fuch Judgment into Execution, in like Manner as if the Proceedings had been commenced under the Authority of this A&.

An Act to empower the Commiffioners appointed for diftri-
buting the Money paid by the United States of America, to
withdraw the fame from the Bank, and inveft it in Exche-
quer Bills.
[21ft March 1808.]

WHEREAS by an Act paffed in the Forty-third Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, intituled An Act for appoint ing Commiffioners for diftributing the Money flipulated to be paid by the United States of America, under the Convention made between His Majefly and the faid United States, among the Perfons having Claims to Compenfation out of fuch Money, certain Commiffioners were appointed for apportioning, dividing, and diftributing the Sum of Six hundred thoufand Pounds, which the United States of America engaged to pay by Inftalments for the Ufe of the Perfons defcribed in the Sixth Article of the Treaty of Commerce, Amity, and Navigation, concluded at London on the Fourth Day of November One thousand seven hundred and ninety-four, between His Majefty and the faid United States, in Satisfaction of the • Money which the United States might have been liable to pay in pursuance of the Provifions of the faid Sixth Article; which faid Sum of Six hundred thousand Pounds has fince been paid; and it was by the faid recited A&t directed, that the feveral Inftalments of the faid Sum of Six hundred thoufand Pounds fhould be paid

into the hands of the Cafhier of the Governor and Company of the • Bank of England, to the Account of the faid Commiffioners, and 'fhould be and remain in the Names of the faid Commiffioners, to 'be paid to the feveral and refpective Perfons entitled thereto, under the Order of the faid Commiffioners or any two of them, pursuant to the Provifions of the faid recited Act; And whereas Part of the said Sum of Six hundred thoufand Pounds hath already been 'diftributed by the faid Commiffioners in purfuance of the faid re'cited Act; but a confiderable Time may elapfe before all the 'Claims of Perfons entitled to receive any Compenfation out of the 'faid Sum of Six hundred thousand Pounds are adjudged, and it may 'be expedient that fuch Part of the Balance of the faid Sum of Money remaining in the Hands of the Cashier of the said Governor and Company undiftributed, as to the faid Commiffioners fhall feem fit, fhould in the mean Time be vefted in Exchequer Bills;' be it therefore enacted by the King's moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That it fhall be lawful for the Commiffioners appointed by the faid recited A&t to withdraw fuch Part of the Balance of the faid Sum of Six hundred thousand Pounds, remaining in the Hands of the faid Cafhier of the faid Governor and Company, as to the faid Commiffioners fhall feem fit, from the Hands of the Cashier of the faid Governor and Company, and to inveft the fame in Exchequer Bills, which Exchequer Bills fhall be depofited in the Hands of the faid Governor and Com. pany, and shall be and remain in the fame Names on the fame Account and to and for the fame Intents and Purposes, and subject to the like Claims of Compenfation, in Proportion to the Amount thereof, as well as of the Intereft accruing on the faid Exchequer Bills, and to the like Orders of Payment, and other Regulations, as the faid part of fuch Balance of the faid Sum of Six hundred thousand Pounds was pursuant to the faid recited act, before the same shall have been fo invested in Exchequer Bills as aforefaid,
