SCHEDULE (L.)-GAME-continued.

the Precincts or Limits of the Manor, Royalty, or Lands for which fuch Deputation or Appointment was made or granted.

X.-If any Perfon fhall be found ufing any Dog, Gun, Net, or other Engine in Great Britain, for any of the Purposes mentioned in this Schedule, in refpect whereof fuch Perfon fhall be chargeable as aforefaid, by any Affeffor or Collector of the Parish where any fuch Perfon fhall then be, or by any Commiffioner for the Execution of this Act, acting for the County, Riding, Division or Place, in which fuch Perfon fhall then be, or by any Lord or Lady, or Gamekeeper of the Manor, Royalty or Lands wherein fuch Perfon fhall then be, or by any Infpector or Surveyor of Taxes acting in the Execution of this Act for the District in which fuch Person shall then be, or by any Perfon duly affeffed to the Duties granted in this Schedule, or by the Owner, Landlord, Leffee, or Occupier of the Land in which fuch Perfon fhall then be, it fhall be lawful for fuch Affeffor, Collector, Commiffioner or Gamekeeper, Infpector or Surveyor, or other Perfon affeffed as aforefaid, or fuch Owner, Landlord, Leffee, or Occupier of Land as aforefaid, to demand and require from the Perfon fo ufing fuch Dog, Gun, Net, or other Engine, the Production of a Certificate iffued to him for that Purpofe, which Certificate every fuch Perfon is hereby required to pro. duce to the Perfon fo demanding the fame, and permit him to read the fame, and (if he fhall think fit) to take a Copy thereof or any Part thereof; or in cafe no fuch Certificate fhall be produced to the Perfon demanding the fame as aforefaid, then it fhall be lawful for the Perfon having made fuch Demand to require the Perfon fo ufing fuch Dog, Gun, Net, or other Engine, forthwith to declare to him his Chriftian and Surname, and Place of Refidence, and the Parish or Place (if any) in which he fhall have been affefied to the Duties by this Act granted; and if any fuch Perfon fhall, after fuch Demand made, wilfully refufe to produce and fhew a Certificate iffued to him for that Purpofe, or in default thereof as aforefaid, to give in to the Perfon fo demanding the fame his Chriftian and Surname, and Place of Refidence, and the Parish or Place (if any) in which he fhall have been affeffed, or fhall produce any falle or fictitious Certificate, or give any falfe or fictitious Name, Place of Refidence, or Place of Affeffment, every fuch Perfon fhall forfeit and pay the Sum of Twenty Pounds, to be fued for, recovered, and applied in like Manner as any Penalty may be fued for, recovered and applied by the Acts herein mentioned, relating to the Duties under the Management of the Commiffioners for the Affairs of Taxes; provided that the Commiffioners before whom the Information for the faid Penalty fhall be made, fhall alfo be Juftices of the Peace of and for the fame County, Riding, Divifion or Place where the faid Offence fhall be committed.

XI. The Commiffioners for the Affairs of Taxes fhall once, or oftener, in every Year, as foon as conveniently may be after fuch Certificates fhall have been iffued, caufe the Names and Refidences of the feveral Perfons to or for whom such Certificates have been granted for that Year, in each County in Great Britain, diftinguishing the Per fons acting under any Deputations or Appointments from others, and the Manors, Royalties, or Lands, for which Deputations or Appointments

Appointments have been granted, and alfo diftinguishing the Rate of Duty affeffed, to be inferted in fome Newfpaper circulated in each refpective County, or in fuch other Newfpaper, and in fuch Manuer as to them fhall feem proper.

XII.-If any Perfon or Perfons fhall, after the Thirtieth Day of June One thoufand eight hundred and eight, ufe any Dog, Gun, Net or other Engine, for any of the Purposes mentioned in this Schedule, without having obtained fuch Certificate as is directed by this Act, in order to an Affeffment for the Year wherein such Perfon or Perfons fhall fo ufe fuch Dog, Gun, Net or other Engine, every fuch Person shall be liable to the Duty of Three Pounds Three Shillings, in the faid Schedule mentioned for that Year, and also shall forfeit and pay the Sum of Twenty Pounds, over and above the faid Duty; and the faid Duty fhall be affeffed by way of Surcharge, according to the Directions of the faid Acts refpectively, in the Diftrict where the Offence fhall be committed; and the faid Penalty fhall be fued for in like Form and Manner as any Penalty may be fued for, profecuted, and recovered by the Acts herein mentioned, relating to the Duties under the Management of the Commiflioners for the Affairs of Taxes, or any of the said Acts.

All Perfons having ordinarily refided in Ireland before the Com- Irish Members mencement of the Seffion of Parliament in the Forty-third Year of of Parliament the Reign of His prefent Majefty, and being Members of either and publie Houfe of the Parliament of the United Kingdom, whether on the Officers. Part of Ireland, or for any Place in Great Britain, and all Perfons who fhall hereafter be Members of the faid Parliament as aforefaid, and who fhall have ordinarily refided in Ireland previous to the Commencement of the Seffion of Parliament in which they fhall refpectively ferve in Parliament, and all Perfons having ordinarily refided in Ireland as aforefaid, or who fhall hereafter be ordinarily refident therein, and now holding or who fhall hereafter hold Offices or Publick Employments in Ireland and are now refiding in Great Britain, or who fhall hereafter refide in Great Britain, with the Approbation or by the Order or Direction of the Lord Lieutenant or other Chief Governor or Chief Governors of Ireland for the Time being, or of his or their Chief Secretary for the Time being, and which fhall be certified under the Hand of the Lord Lieutenant, Chief Governor or Chief Governors, or his or their Chief Secretary, to be therein refident for the Purposes of affifting in the Execution of Publick Bufinefs, fhall be wholly discharged and exempted from the Duties fet

forth in the Schedules to this Act annexed, marked (C.), (D.), (E.) and (G.); provided that this Exemption fhall not extend to any Perfon ordinarily refident in Ireland as aforefaid, being a Member of either Houfe of Parliament of the United Kingdom, who hath refided or fhall refide in Great Britain longer than during the Seffion of Parliament, and Forty Days before and Forty Days after each Seffion, nor to any Article on which a Duty is by this Act made payable, which fhall be retained, kept, employed, or ufed by fuch Perfon in Great Britain, during the Refidence of fuch Perfon in Ireland: Provided alfo, that this Exemption fhall not extend to any Perfon ordinarily refident in Ireland as aforefaid, holding an Office or Publick Employment in Ireland, unless the Approbation in Writing, or fuch Order or Direction of the faid Lord Lieutenant or other Chief Governor or Chief Governors of Ireland for the Time being, or of his or their Chief Secretary for the Time being, and a Defcription of the Place of Abode in Great Britain of the Perfons refpectively holding fuch Offices or Employment fhall have been before the paffing of this Act delivered into the Office of the Commiffioners for the Affairs of Taxes in Somerset Place, or shall be fo delivered within Twenty Days after the paffing of this Act, with refpect to Perfons then in Great Britain, or within Thirty Days after the Arrival in Great Britain of fuch Perfons refpectively, who fhall thereafter arrive: Provided alfo, that no Perfon fhall, for the Purpofes of claiming this Exemption, be deemed to be ordinarily refident in Ireland, unless he fhall refide therein during fuch Portion of the Year as is not covered by the Privilege herein provided: And, for the better afcertaining the Fact of fuch Refidence, every Perfon claiming the Benefit of this Exemption, fhall verify the fame upon Oath (if required) before the Commiffioners acting in the Execution of this Act, in the District where fuch Person shall refide..

Any Sheriff of any County, or any Mayor or other Officer in any Corporation or Royal Burgh, ferving an annual Office therein, who during fuch Year of Service fhall have kept or fhall keep any Number of Servants, Carriages, or Horfes, greater than the Number fuch Perfon was affeffed to prior to the Year of fuch Service, and who fhall have been affeffed for fuch greater Number for One Year, fhall be exempt from farther Affeffment for fuch greater Number for any other Year, although fuch Year of Service may have run into a Second Year of Affeffment.
