ance of, or Deed relating to any Real or Perfonal Eftate, or any Proceedings in Law or Equity; and alfo fo much of the faid Act as directs that any Perfon who fhall practise as fuch Special Pleader, Draftfman, or Conveyancer, or shall draw or prepare any fuch Conveyance or Deed, fhall annually take out a Certificate thereof in Manner and under the Regulations in the faid Act contained; and alfo fo much of the faid laft recited Act as impofes any Penalty on any Perfon in Ireland, not being qualified as in the faid Act mentioned, or not being within the Exception in the faid Act specified, who fhall draw or prepare any Conveyance of, or Deed relating to any Real or Perfonal Eftate, or any Proceeding in Law or Equity for or in Expectation of any Fee, Gain, Profit, or Reward, fhall be and the fame is and are hereby repealed.

X. And be it further enacted, That so much of the said A&t, paffed in the Forty-feventh Year of His Majefty's Reign, and the Schedules thereto annexed, as impofes a Duty of Two-pence on every Summons iffued out of any Inferior Court, not holding Plea above Forty Shillings, and the like Duty on any Warrant iffued or Order made by fuch Court, and as impofes a Duty of Sixpence on every Lift of Attornies, Solicitors, or Conveyancers, fhall. from and after the Expiration of One Calendar Month after the paffing of this Act, be and the fame is hereby repealed.

XI. And be it further enacted, That where, in any Caufe, Suit, or Proceeding by Civil Bill, any Plaintiff or Defendant fhall appear in his own proper Perfon, and not by Attorney, it shall be lawful for the Affitant Barrister before whom fuch Caufe, Suit, or Proceeding fhall be had, to ftrike out or omit from the Form of any Decree, Difmifs, or other Proceeding, the Words Attorney for the Plaintiff,' or 'Attorney for the Defendant,' and to infert instead thereof The Plaintiff,' (or Defendant, as the Cafe may be) appears in Perfon;' and every Decree, Difmifs, and other Proceeding in fuch Caufe or Suit by Civil Bill fhall, if duly ftamped according to Law, be as good, valid, and effectual, to all Intents and Purposes whatfoever, as if the Name of the Attorney for the Plaintiff or Defendant refpectively had appeared thereto, any Thing in any Act or Acts to the contrary notwithstanding.

XII. And be it further enacted, That from and after the Expiration of One Month after the paffing of this A&, so much of the faid Act, paffed in the faid Forty-fixth Year, as directs, that whenever any Deed, Conveyance, or Will fhall be brought to be registered under certain Acts in force in Ireland, it fhall and may be lawful for the Registrar to keep and detain in his Cuftody all fuch Deeds, Conveyances, and Wills as fhall be brought to him, and all Memorials thereof, for the Space of Time in the faid Act mentioned, and as requires the faid Registrar to produce fuch Deeds, Conveyances, and Wills and Memorials thereof, to any Officer appointed for the Infpection of Stamps, and as impofes any Penalty on any fuch Registrar in cafe of his Refufal or Neglect to comply with the Directions of the faid Act, fhall be and the fame is hereby repealed.

XIII. And be it further enacted, That where any Lord or Lady of a Manor, or other Perfon in Ireland, fhall have made any Deputation or Appointment of a Game-keeper, whereof a Certificate duly ftamped fhall have been granted according to Law, and fuch

Deputation or Appointment fhall have ceased by the Death, Refig. Year by
nation, or Removal of fuch Game-keeper, before the Twenty-fifth
Day of March next after the Date of fuch Certificate, it shall and
may be lawful for fuch Lord cr Lady of a Manor, or other Perfon,
to make a new Deputation or Appointment of any Perfon to
be a Game-keeper in the Room of fuch former Game-keeper,
and fo from Time to Time as often as any Vacancy fhall happen by Stamp.
the Death, Refignation, or Removal of any fuch Game-keeper,
during the Period in which fuch Certificate fhall continue in force,
by indorfing upon the Back of the Certificate granted to fuch
former Game-keeper, the Name of the Perfon fo deputed or ap-
pointed; and fuch Lord or Lady of a Manor or other Perfon fhall
fubfcribe every fuch Indorfement with his or her Name, and the Date
of figning the fame; and every fuch Deputation or Appointment fo
made by Indorsement and fubfcribed as aforefaid, fhall be valid and
effectual until the faid Twenty-fifth Day of March, and no longer,
without any further or other Stamp thereon, and without any further
or new Certificate thereof; any Thing in any Act in force in Ireland tọ
the contrary notwithstanding.

XIV. And be it further enacted, That every Perfon in Ireland, who from and after the palling of this Act fhall have in his or her Poffeffion any Greyhound, Hound, Pointer, Setting Dog, Spaniel, Lurcher, or other Dog, or any Gun, Net, or other Engine uiually employed in the taking or Deftruction of Game, fhall be deemed and taken as a Perfon keeping and ufing fuch Dog, Gun, Net, or Engine for the taking or Destruction of Game within the true Intent and Meaning of an Act impofing Duties upon Certificates with refpect to the Killing of Game in Ireland.

XV. And be it further enacted, That whenever any Profecution or Proceeding fhall be had or commenced against any Perfon for carrying on any Trade, Bufinefs, Profeffion, or Calling, without having a Licence for fo doing duly ftamped, or for keeping or ufing any Dog, Gun, Net, or Engine for the taking or Deftruction of Game, with out having obtained a Certificate duly ftamped in Manner required by Law, the Proof that fuch Perfon has obtained fuch Licence or Certificate duly ftamped fhall lie on the Party against whom fuch Profecution or Proceeding fhall be had or commenced, and not on the Party complaining; any Thing in any Act or Acts to the contrary notwithstanding.

XVI. And whereas by the faid recited Act of the Forty-feventh Year of His prefent Majesty's Reign, it is among other Things enacted, that any Deed, Intrument, Matter, or Thing, which fhall be ftamped with any Stamp of greater Value than the Stamp required by Law, fhall be valid and effectual to all Inte. ts and Purpofes, although the Stamp on fuch Deed, Inftrument, Matter, or Thing, fhall not be of the particular Denomination or Defcription required by Law; be it enacted, That nothing in the faid recited Enactment contained fhall be deemed or conftrued to extend to any Deed, Inflrument, Matter, or Thing which fhall be of a Kind for which feparafe and particular Stamps or Marks fhall have been provided according to Low, unless the Stamp impofed thereon fhall be One of the Stamps o Marks particularly appropriated to fuch Kind of Deed, Inftrument, or Writing. XVII. And

XVII. And be it further enacted, That from and after the Expiration of One Calendar Month after the paffing of this Act, the Payment of the Stamp Duty on all Judgments fhall be denoted in Manner following refpectively, that is to fay; the Payment of the Duty which fhall from Time to Time be payable on Judgments, upon Cognovit Actionem, fhall be denoted by the proper Stamp for every fuch Judgment refpectively, being ftamped on fuch Cognovit, and the Payment of the Duty which fhall from Time to Time be payable on all other Judgments whatsoever in Ireland, fhall be denoted in Manner following; that is to fay, a fmall Piece or Bit of Parchment whereon fhall be written the Title of the Caufe, and the Day of marking Judgment therein, fhall be ftamped with the proper Stamp for every Judgment refpectively, and fuch Piece of Parchment fo ftamped, fhall be filed in the proper Court, on the File of the Pleadings thereof; and thereupon every fuch Judgment fhall be deemed and taken to be duly ftamped to all Intents and Purpcfes whatsoever; and any Officer or Officers who fhall néglect or omit to obtain fuch Piece of Parchment properly flamped for any fuch Judgment, and to file the fame as aforefaid, fhall for every fuch Neglect or Omiffion forfeit and pay the Sum of Ten Pounds.

XVIII. Provided alfo, and be it enacted, That all and every fuch Cognovit fhall and may be ftamped with the proper Stamp, within One Calendar Month next after the fame fhall have been filed, without Payment of any Penalty or other Sum, fave only the Duty payable thereon, but no Difcount fhall be allowed thereon; and every Perfon concerned in the engroffing, figuing, or filing the fame, fhall be exempt from all Penalties on Account thereof: Provided nevertheless, that any Officer or Officers who fhall neglect or omit to bring or fend fuch Cognovit to the Head Office in Dublin to be ftamped, within One Calendar Month after the fame fhall have been so filed, fhall for every fuch Neglect or Omillion forfeit and pay the Sum of Ten Pounds.

XIX. And be it further enacted, That after the Expiration of One Month from the paffing of this Act, a Book fhall be kept in every Court in Ireland, by the proper Officers, for marking Judgments, therein, in which Book fhall be entered within Seven Days next after the marking of any Judgment which fhall be marked in fuch Court after that Time, a Minute or Memorandum of the Entry of fuch Judgment, ftating the Names of the Parties in the Caufe, and the Day of the marking of fuch Judgment, and alfo the Day of making fuch Entry, and whether the fame was duly ftamped as aforefaid or not; and fuch Entry fhall afterwards be taken as Evidence that fuch Judgment was duly ftamped, or the contrary, at the Time of making fuch Entry; and if any fuch Officer fhall omit to keep fuch Book, or to make fuch Entry therein relative to any fuch Judgment within the faid Period of Seven Days after marking the fame refpectively, or fhall make any fuch Entry falfely, every fuch Officer fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sum of Twenty Pounds.

XX. And whereas it has heretofore been enacted, that all Judgments fhould within One Calendar Month after the figuing thereof refpectively, be carried to the Head Office in Dublin to be ftamped, and the fame hath not been carried into Execution, but it has been ufual to ftamp the fame as aforefaid refpectively;' be it therefore

enacted,

enacted, That every Judgment figned before the paffing of this A&t, and which hath been fo ftamped refpectively, fhall be deemed and taken to have been duly ftamped, and all Perfons concerned in figuing or making up the fame fhall be and they are refpectively hereby indemnified from all Pains and Penalties for not causing the same to be ftamped.

XXI. And be it further enacted, That no attefted Copy of any faal Judgment, which after One Calendar Month from the paffing of this Act, fhall be entered in Ireland, fhall be given or received in Evidence, unless the Officer attefting the fame fhall certify not only that the fame is a true Copy of fuch Judgment, but that fuch Judgment has been duly ftamped as aforefaid refpectively; and if any Officer fhall certify the fame falfely he fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sum of Twenty Pounds.

XXII. And be it further enacted, That if any Hatter or other Perion licenced to fell Hats, fhall refufe to permit and, fuffer any Perfon duly authorized and empowered, under the Provifions of the faid la recited Act, to enter into the Houfe, Shop, Workhouse, or Warehoufe of any fuch Hatter or Perfon licenced to fell Hats, and to search for, view, infpect, and examine all and every Hat and Hats which fhall be in fuch Houfe, Shop, Workhouse, or Warehouse, or fall moleft, obftruct, or hinder any Perfon fo authorized in the Execation of his Duty under the faid recited Act, every fuch Hatter or Perfon licenced to fell Hats, fhall for every fuch Offence forfeit the Sum of Twenty Pounds.

XXIII. And be it further enacted, That the feveral Duties hereby granted, fhall be paid and payable according to the Amount thereof in Britif Currency, and fhall be carried to the Consolidated Fund of Ireland, and fhall be under the Management, Government, and Care of the Commiffioners for the Time being appointed to ma nage the Duties charged upon ftamped Vellum, Parchment, and Paper in Ireland, and the faid Commiffioners are hereby empowered and required to ufe fuch Stamps, in order to denote the Duties payable by this Act, as have been heretofore provided to denote former Duties of the like Nature, or to caufe new Stamps to be provided for that Purpose, and to alter the fame or any of them from Time to Time; and to do all other Things neceffary to be done for putting this Act into Execution with relation to the feveral Duties hereby granted, in the like and as full and ample a Manner as they are authorized to put in Execution any former Law concerning any Duties under their Management.

And be it further enacted, That all and every Officer and Officers who shall be concerned in levying, collecting, and receiving any Stamp Duty or Duties payable in Ireland, thall keep fepa-a rate and diftinct Accounts thereof; and that the feveral Diftributors of Stamps in the County of Dublin, or County of the City of Receiver Dublin, fhall pay all Monies received by them, or any Deputy or Gener, and he other Perfon employed by them, for or by reafon or on account of intotheTreafury. any of fuch Stamp Duty or Duties, or of any Penalties impofed by this Act, or by any other Act in anywife relating to the Payment or Regulation of any Stamp Duty or Duties, and then in the Hands of fuch Diftributors refpectively, to the Receiver General of Stamp Duties on every Day in each Week except Sundays: and the Diftributors of Stamps employed in other Parts of Ireland fhall on

every Wednejday in every Week, unless the same shall be an Holiday, and then on the next enfuing Day which shall not be an Holiday, or as fpeedily after fuch Wednesday or other Day as the Distance of fuch Diftributors refpectively fhall permit, and as much oftener as the faid Distributors fhall be required by the faid Commiffioners, or any of them, pay or caufe to be paid all Sums received by them in like Manner, and then in their Hands respectively, to the Receiver General of Stamp Duties, and the faid Receiver General fhall, on each and every Day, or on fuch Day or Days in every Week as fhall be directed for the Purpose by the faid Commiffioners, or any Three of them, pay all Monies fo received by him, and then in his Hands, into the Receipt of His Majefty's Exchequer of Ireland; and the faid Receiver General fhall on each Day after his making any fuch Payment into His Majefty's Exchequer, and every Diftributor of Stamps each Day after his or her making any fuch Payment to the faid Receiver General, or on the First Opportunity after the said Times refpectively, give Notice of fuch Payment and of the Amount thereof to the faid Commiffioners of Stamp Duties; and if fuch Receiver General fhall at any Time neglect or omit to pay into the Receipt of His Majefty's Exchequer the Sums fo by him payable as aforefaid, at the Time and in Manner aforefaid, or fhall detain any Part of the Monies fo by him payable, without fufficient Reason to be approved of by the faid Commiffioners of Stamp Duties, or any Three of them, then and for fuch Offence he fhall be difmiffed from his faid Employment, and fhall be incapable to ferve His Majefty, His Heirs or Succeffors, in any Civil Capacity whatfoever, and fhall be charged with Intereft for the Monics fo detained in his Hands, after the Rate of Twelve Pounds by the Hundred by the Year, the fame to be recovered, with Colts of Suit, by Action, Suit, or Information, or by any other of the Means whereby Debts may be recovered by His Majefty, His Heirs and Succeffors, from Publick Accountants or Debtors; and if any fuch Diftributor or Diftributors fhall neglect or omit to pay or caufe to be paid to fuch Receiver General as aforefaid, the Sums fo by him, her, or them payable as aforefaid, or thall detain the Monies by him, her, or them so payable as aforefaid, or any Part thereof, without fufficient Reafon to be approved of by the faid Commiffioners of Stamp Duties, or any Three of them, then and for fuch Offence every fuch Diftributor fhall be difmiffed from his faid Employment, and ihall from thenceforth be incapable of ferving His Majefty, His Heirs or Succeffors, in any Civil Capacity whatsoever, and fhall be charged with Intereft for the Monies fo detained in his Hands, after the Rate of Twelve Pounds by the Year for each One hundred Pounds, to be recovered with Cofts of Suit, by Action, Suit, or Information, or by any other of the Ways or Means whereby Debts may be recovered by His Majefty, His Heirs or Succefors, from Publick Accountants.

XXV. And be it further enacted, That on any Trial or other Procee ling for Recovery of any Duty or Penalty under this Act, or under any Act empowering, or in anywife relating to the Levying, Collection, or Management of any Stamp Duty or Duties whether in any Suit to be inflituted in any of the Superior Courts in Ireland, or by Civil Bill, or before a Juftice or Juftices, or at Seffions, any In former or other Person who in the Event of a Conviction would be entitled to the Penalty to be recovered thereon, or to any Part, Share,
