1. During the month of September, in the neighbourhood of Calcutta, 125 the body of a well-developed lad was found in the mud of a shallow dirty tank, into which several cowsheds drained. The body was well preserved. there was no marked odour from it, the surface had a slimy feel.

According to the statement of the parents the lad had been missing for six days. Discuss the nature and cause of the appearances presented by the body.

2. The body of a girl, 10 years of age, was found hanging by the neck 125 from a cross-bamboo, in a cow hut. The Police reported after inquiry that the owner of the hut, a strong young man, had deflowered the girl, and to shield himself had hanged her before life was extinct. What appearances would corroborate the police report?

Discuss the following case :

A patient named H, Hindoo, male, aged 40, was admitted in the Medical College Hospital for hepatitis.

Previous history-he had suffered from secondary syphilis 10 years previously, was addicted to drinking and had been suffering from chronic dyspepsia for over one year.

Condition on admission-the patient was emaciated: the right lobe of the liver was hard, enlarged 1" below costal arch and tender-no cedema over the hepatic region-no distinct swelling could be made out over the region. A distinct pulsatile tumour perceptible over the pit of the stomach. Heart apex-in the 7th space in the nipple line.

A distinct diastolic bruit audible in the aortic region, loudest over the middle of the sternum. The pulse at the wrist jerky, lungs healthy

bases resonant.

Subsequent course-the patient while in hospital use to get a rise of temperature of 100° to 101° F. in the afternoon. Complained on the third day of admission of a sense of constriction over the pit of the stomach, and brought out all solid food he had taken. There was no difficulty in taking and retaining liquid food. On the tenth day, the patient became collapsed. On examination the left base of the lung was found dull up to the angle of scapula. On aspiration of the left pluera 2 pints of bloody fluid was drawn out.

On microscopical examination of the fluid numerous puscells besides red corpuscles found.

The patient died on the next day of exhaustion.

1. You are called in to see a patient, a multi-para, who was confined 150 by a dhai four days previously. No detailed or reliable history as to the nature of the labour can be obtained. You find the patient has high fever, the temperature being 105 60 F, the pulse is 120. The patient gives a history of severe pain in the lower abdomen, accompanied by fever, of two days' duration. The bowels are constipated, not having been opened since delivery. There is an offensive vaginal discharge. On attempting

to make an internal examination the patient is so frightened and nervous that you are unable to make a satisfactory investigation. What is the probable diagnosis? How would you proceed to confirm it? What line of treatment will you carry out?

2. What difficulties may occur in a case of Breech presentation during 150 labour, and how would you treat them?
