A Pfalm of David, on occafion of bringing the Ark to Mount Sion, and placing it in the Tent, which he had prepared for it, 1 Chr. xv, xvi. which was a Type of Chrift's Acceffion into Heaven, the true Holy of Holies.

Domini eft terra. Pfal. XXIV. He earth is the Lords, and all that therein is the compafs of the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 [For he hath founded it upon the feas and prepared it upon the flouds.]

2 For he by his admirable Wisdom and Power, hath made fuch Arches and Channels

in the Earth, that the Waters, which were at firft above it, are now, as to the main mass of them, beneath it, Exod. xx. 4. and yet the Earth ftands firm upon that fluid body, as upon the most folid Foundation.

enter in And this is the more probable, if it be confidered, that Sion was a Strong-Hold, 2 Sam. v.7. for in fuch places, to this Day, we ufe Portcullifes.

7,9 Everlasting Doors ;] that is, Doors made of exceeding durable Materials: tho' when apply'd to our Saviour's entring Heaven-Gates, the word is to be taken in its moft proper fenfe.

7,9 And the King of Glory fhall come in.] By which is meant, That God, who had promised in a peculiar manner to be prefent between the Cherubims over the Ark, fhould now enter into the Sanctuary. See Exid. xxv. 20, 21, 22. but the Godhead dwelt in a more perfect manner in Christ Jesus, than ever it had done in the Ark; and thefe words are therefore more truly applicable to his Entrance into Heaven, than to the Arks being carried into the Sun Auary.

A Palm

A Pfalm of David. This is one of those that are called Alphabetical Pfalms (tho' it be not perfectly fo.) By which is meant, That they are compos'd after the order of the Hebrew Letters; the firft Verfe beginning with Aleph, the second with Beth, and so on.

Ad te, Domine, levavi. Nto thee, O Lord, will lift up my foul, my God, I have put my truft in thee: O let me not be confounded, neither let mine enemies triumph

over me.

2 For all they that hope in thee fhall not be afhamed: but fuch as [tranfgrefs] without a caufe fhall be put to confufion. 3 Shew me thy ways, O Lord and teach me thy paths.

Lead me forth in thy truth, and learn me: for thou art the God of my falvation; in thee hath been my hope all the day long.

5 Call to remembrance, O Lord, thy tender mercies: and thy loving kindneffes, which have been ever of old.

6 Oh remember not the fins and offences of my youth: but according to thy mercy think thou upon me, O Lord, for thy goodness.

7 Gracious, and righteous is the Lord therefore will he teach finners in the way.

12 His foul fhall dwell at eafe and his feed fhall inherit the land.

13 The fecret of the Lord is tamong them that fear him: and he will fhew them his covenant.

14 Mine eyes are ever looking unto the Lord: for he fhall pluck my feet out of the net.

15 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me: for I am defolate, and in mifery.

16 The forrows of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my troubles

Pfal. XXVI.

E thou my Judge, O Lord, for I have walked innocently: my truft hath been alfo in the Lord, therefore fhall I not fall.

2 [Examine me, O Lord, and prove me try out my *reins and my heart.]

3 For thy loving kindness is ever before mine eyes and I will walk in thy truth.

I have not dwelt with vain perfons neither will I have fellowship with the deceitful.

5 I have hated the congregation of the wicked: and will not fit among the ungodly. 6 [I will *wash my hands in innocency, O. Lord will I go to thine altar;]

6 [I will not only, according to Cuftom, wash my hands, before I perform my Devotion, but I will at the fame time proteft mine Innocence, as to the Crimes charged upon me, and folemnly declare my Refolutions of keeping my felf free from fuch Crimes for the future.]
