Saturday, December 10, 1842.

On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

The reading of the journal of yesterday was dispensed with. Mr. Long, from the committee on enrolled bills, reported the following resolution and memorial to be correctly enrolled, to wit:

"Joint resolutions relative to the present sesssion of the Le. gislative Assembly."

"Memorial of the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin to the President of the United Strates, praying for the removal of James D. Doty, from the of fice of Governor of said Territory.'

The Speaker signed the said resolutions and memorial, and they were ordered to be presented to the President of the Council for his signature.

A message from the Council by their Secretary:

"Mr. Speaker :-I am directed to inform this House, that the Council have concurred in the amendments of the House in the joint resolution relative to the adjournment of the Legislative Assembly, with amendments, in which I am directed to ask your concurrence."

The resolution contained in the foregoing message was then taken up, and the amendments of the Council to the amend. ment of this House, were read and concurred in.

Ordered, That the Council be acquainted therewith.

Mr. Elmore offered the following resolution, which was unan. imously adopted, Mr. Darling being in the chair, to wit:

Resolved, That the thanks of this House are due to the Hon. Albert G. Ellis, for the manner in which he has performed the duties of Speaker.

Tuesday, January 31, 1843.

The journal of yesterday was read,

Mr. Darling offered the following resolution which was adop ted.

Resolved, That the Clerk be charged with a message to the Hon. the Council, informing that body, that a quorum of the House of Representatives is now present, and ready to proceed

to business.

Mr. Hamilton offered the following resolution, which lies upon the table one day :

Resolved, That the Governor be requested to lay before this House, all the information he may have reeceived from the Go. vernment of the United States, relative to the appropriations made to defray the expenses of the Legislative Assembly of Wisconsin Territory.

The Speaker laid before the House, a communication from Harrison Reed, relative to printing, which was read.

When Mr. Darling moved that the communication do lie on the table.

Which was agreed to.

Mr. Walker from the county of Milwaukee appeared and took his seat.

Mr. Darling offered the following resolution, which, on mo. tion of Mr. Hamilton, was ordered to lie on the table, to wit: Resolved, If the Hon. the Council concur, that a joint com. mittee of two from each House, be appointed to wait upon His Excellency the Governor, and inform him that the Legislative Assembly have again met according to adjournment, and are now ready to proceed to business.

On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

Ordered, That the Chief Clerk inform the Council that this House is now ready to adjourn.

A message from the Council, by their Secretary:

"Mr. Speaker :-I am directed to inform this House that the Council is now ready to adjourn.

On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

The Speaker adjourned the House to meet on the last Monday of January next, at 12 o'clock, Meridian.

Monday, January 30, 1843.

At 12 o'clock M., the House was called to order by the Speaker, and the roll being called the following members answered to their names, to wit:

Messrs. Crossman, Darling, Elmore, Hunkins, Masters, Olin, Parsons, Platt, Thompson, Tripp and Ellis, (Speaker.)

Mr. Elmore presented the certificates of election of Philander Judson and John T. Trowbridge to the House of Representatives from the county of Racine, and moved that they be admitted to their seats.

A quorum of members not being present the Speaker decided that no business could be done.

And thereupon,

On motion of Mr. Darling,

The Speaker adjourned the House until 3 o'clock, P. M.

THREE O'CLOCK P. M.

On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

A call of the House was made and the following members an. swered to their names, to wit: Messrs. Crossman, Darling, El. more, Hamilton, Hunkins, Masters, Olin, Parsons, Platt, Thompson, Tripp, and Ellis, [Speaker.]

The Speaker informed the House that Philander Judson and John T. Trowbridge had presented cirtificates of election to seats in this House from the county of Racine, and decided that they would be entited to their seats on presenting evidence that they had been duly sworn.

And thereupon Mr. Elmore presented the certificates of the clerk of the supreme court certifying that Philander Judson and John T. Trowbridge had taken the oath of office as members of the House of Representatives of the Territory of Wisconsin, which were read together with their certificates of election. When Messrs. Judson and Trowbridge appeared and took their seats.

The Speaker then announced that a quorum of members were present, and that the House was ready to proceed to business. On motion of Mr. Hunkins,

John G. Belanger appeared at the Clerk's desk and was duly sworn by the Speaker as Messenger.

On motion of Mr. Hamilton,

The House adjourned until to-morrow at ten o'clock. A. M.
